| It was late at night in Maverick Hunter HQ, a few weeks after the defeat of Lumine. A scream echoed through the base from a certain copy reploid's room. A scream of pure, blood-chilling terror.

| It hadn't even been twenty minutes since X went into his sleep cycle. He nearly pulled an all-nighter, and he was exhausted and needed rest. But the instant he heard the scream, the moment his audio receptors picked up the voice, he was out of his recharge pod and bolting down the hall. He nearly tripped over his own two feet and opened the door. "Axl, are you okay?!" he asked frantically.
I wish I could avoid violence...but if I did, this world wouldn't be able to live in peace. So I will fight for this world, to protect humans and Reploids alike.

| The boy didn't answer as he sat on his bed plastered to a corner. Tears streamed down his face as his eyes darted back and forth, looking for an enemy that just wasn't there. His breathing was heavily and he looked all the part of a terrified animal ready to run at the slightest provocation.

| X blinked in confusion for a few moments, trying to register what Axl just said. He brought a hand up to his ear, pressing two fingers to the back of his ear in a motion similar to using the communicator in his helmet--the device was built into his head so it worked the same way. "Zero, can you come to Axl's room?"
He turned the lights on to illuminate the room. "There's nobody here, Axl," he noted, though he could tell the boy was still terrified.
I wish I could avoid violence...but if I did, this world wouldn't be able to live in peace. So I will fight for this world, to protect humans and Reploids alike.

| Zero blinked when Axl yelped when the door opened to let him in. "What's going on?" He asked sounding somewhat drowsy as he walked over towards the other two. He'd been asleep long enough to actually fall asleep before X had called him to come there. A five minute nap wasn't enough to cover two days of all-nighters, but it didn't matter.

| Zero stood up and led the way to his room. He stumbled a few times, but that was mostly because he'd end up closing his eyes while he was walking. He was actually rather exhausted. Once inside his room he collapsed onto his bed taking up more than half of it though he'd move if bothered.

| "It's okay, Axl," X soothed in a gentle tone. When they got to Zero's room he gently pushed Zero over to one side of the bed with his foot, then set Axl next to him before laying down on the opposite side, so Axl was between them, like a child who was sleeping in their parents' bed. He pulled the covers up over the three of them. "If he shows up, we'll stop him," he assured the boy.

| Zero moved over when X pushed him slightly and quickly started to drift off to sleep. Although he was exhausted he was still a rather light sleeper. He always noticed any changes in his room, even if they were just from lights from an aircraft.

| Zero ended up grumbling and burying his head under a pillow when an aircraft came back to the base to land. Unfortunately his room was just close enough to where it could always be heard no matter what. He'd gotten used to it for the most part, however Axl and X might have a harder time dealing with it depending on how deep in sleep they were.

| The sound made Axl cringe heavily. It made him think of the Mavericks air raids he witnessed when he was younger, when he saw so many people die or get injured it sickened him. Curling into a ball the best he could, he tried to doze off and ignore the slight buzz in his head from the aircraft.

| Zero, not used to having so little space, ended up rolling off the bed into the floor. He muttered something under his breath before pushing himself up into a sitting position. He shook his head slightly before standing up and going to check on the schedule for the heliport. Thankfully that was the last aircraft that was due back that night. However now that he was moving he felt like he should actually be doing something.

| The youngest's body shook at the memories, the worst being the furthest back he could remember. Red had found him in the abandon warehouse, the fires still burning from whatever had happened before. The scythe-wielder lead him away, encountering mavericks along their route. Then the aircraft came in and more mavericks swarmed around the fleeing people and themselves.
Then explosions rocked the area.
He could still hear the screams, still smell the blood and the burning flesh, still feel his own wounds on his body from whatever had happened. "Please." he begged. "It hurts to remember."
(I lol'ed at Zero, then cried in pain for Axl. Am I weird?)

| X had horrible timing. Axl was lost in his earliest memories of the mavericks trying to rip his body to pieces and didn't react well to being touched. Glazed, panicking emeralds locked on the elder reploid and grabbed his arm in a bruising grip before attempting to roll them onto the ground so he could pin him.

| Zero, taking immediate notice of the sudden movement, got up from where he was sleeping and grabbed Axl holding him still. "Axl, calm down." His voice was soothing though somewhat heavy with sleep. Although he figured it would be a bad idea to try and get Axl to let go of X he could at least hold him still so the redhead didn't flip him.

My body hurt, my head was pounding, and I couldn't remember anything before I woke up in that warehouse room. It looked like some kind of explosion had happened, but no matter how hard I try, I keep coming up blank."
