What happened? How did he get back to Earth? How was he himself again? The lavender-haired reploid was so confused with everything. The last thing he remembered was losing control of the Sigma data in his copy chip, being defeated by the Hunter Trio, and then nothing.

So how was he alive and here, surrounded by nothing but desolated land and rocks?

The white reploid was looking around curiously, turning slowly. Movement to his left startled him and he toppled over a nearby knee-high rock, slamming his head into the ground. "Ow."

Iris heard a thud to her right and turned around to see a white Reploid lying face down on the ground. She hurried over to what she thought was a female, but upon closer inspection it looked like a male.
"Would you like some help?" Iris asked, standing next to the male, holding out a hand.

Moving to his knees, Lumine rubbed his nose with a groan. Upon hearing a kind female voice, he looked up to see a brunette in red and blue armor offering her hand.

Hesitantly, he took the offered hand with nervous smile. "Thank you kindly. What is this place?" he asked curiously.

Iris frowned. "I don't know the full details, but from what my friend told me, something up in space called Ragnarok used some sort of weapon to shoot at Neo Arcadia... It caused much devastation and a lot of lives were lost... The cause of all of that was a human by the name of Dr. Weil..."

The white reploid nearly fell at the sudden tug of his hand. He managed to right himself as the girl continued to drag him, but immediately dug his feet into the ground at the blue reploid's name.

"Wait wait wait! Are you talking about the X, last creation of Dr. Thomas Light and one of the Maverick Hunters S-Class Trio? That X?!" Oh dear, this was bad. The blue bomber would most likely kill him on sight for what he did.

When Iris didn't attack, Lumine reached up and tugged on his bang, his visible eye showing guilt and regret. "I am suppose to be a perfected copy reploid, one based on the design of the new-generation prototype, Axl. With our copy chips, we were immune to the Maverick Virus, or at least we were suppose to be."

He twirled the tip of his boot in the dirt nervously, "I was put in charge of the Jacobs Project, a migration effort to have humans colonize the moon until the earth was healed. But the copy chip had a flaw in it, one that cost nearly all the copy reploids their lives and lead to the 8th Maverick Uprising."

"........... I used to be a Navigator for the Maverick Hunters. I first started out as Zero's Navigator. My first mission was to help Zero find the source of the cause of something called a DNA Soul....... It was a tough mission, and my brother, Colonel blamed Zero for it...... Then, not long after, Repliforce, for which I worked for had started a coup..... My brother was involved. I asked Zero not to fight my brother, but he did so anyway.... And killed him...... I become so upset that I took my brother's Control Chip and merged with it even though I knew I wasn't compatible, and I fought Zero in a Ride Armor....... I died...... The last thing I remember from that is Zero screaming......." Iris started crying.

Lumine frowned. So they both made mistakes and died for them. And now they were both back with no ideas how and why. Weird. Stepping up to the crying girl, he gently wrapped his arms around her in a hug as he continued his side of the story.

"The copy chips of my generation were derived from the reploid models of years prior, so we had a set list of reploids we could turn into. Since Axl's was the first, his was just a clean slate and he could gather whichever DNA data files he wished with his copy shot ability. The reploids of my generation couldn't do that since no one could figure out just how his ability worked."

He shivered as he revealed the one weakness of his copy chip. "Included in the mix of our copy chips' databanks was the DNA data of Sigma."

The white reploid bowed his head, "I'm not sure, but I believe it was Sigma in the first place who organized the list of reploids put in our copy chips. The influence from his DNA data was what turned the copy reploids Maverick. Unfortunately..."

He had to paused to bite back sobs as his body trembled. "I also fell under his mindset and I attacked the Hunters without another thought. They defeated me, but in my body's last desperate attempts to kill them, a shard containing a copy of Sigma's and my data was shot out of my body and struck Axl. I think..."

Lumine fell to his knees in tears, "I think I killed the first of my kind!"

Gold eyes shot open at that and he looked at her in shock. "He's alive? The virus didn't corrupt him?"

He felt a large weight lift from his shoulders at that and he let out a sigh. "What a relief. I don't think I would have been able to handle it if I had corrupted my predecessor. His systems must have gone into lock down to stop the virus from completely corrupting him."

Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, he looked back at Iris. "Do you think X would...would he forgive me for my actions? I want to make up for the stupid things I did, but...do you think he'd give me a chance?"

X carried a box of odd parts for various different machines into one of Neo Arcadia's storage rooms. They looked like parts for a tracking system, a more advanced recharge pod, and a capsule for containing Cyber-elves. Upon hearing Iris' voice, he decided immediately to take a break to say hi. He turned and waved to her, but his happiness was quickly shattered when he saw familiar white armor and purple hair.

That glare. It made the copy reploid wish that the ground would just open up and swallow him. He wanted to say something...ANYTHING to make the blue hero stop looking at him like that. X turned to directly face Lumine. His glare didn't seem quite as intense. He heard the white Reploid's knee armor clunking together as his legs trembled. "...While I still don't trust you," he stated in a calm, almost monotonous voice, "I won't attack you for one simple reason. Axl is still alive, so there isn't any reason for me to attack. If he were dead, I would kill you on the spot."

He may have been a benevolent ruler during his time on the throne of Neo Arcadia, but there were some things he didn't forgive so easily, almost killing his friends being one of them.

Lumine felt his legs give out in relief as he fell to his knees. He felt a couple of tears spill out as he started ranting. "I'm sorry, X. I should have been stronger. I should never have let the Sigma data take control of me. I should have been stronger like Axl. He never let any of the DNA personalities he collected change who he was. I was weak because I couldn't do the same. I'm so very, truly sorry. I will do whatever it takes to make it up to you and Axl and everyone. Anything, just name it and I'll do it."

X tilted his head to the side at Lumine's words. He was getting much better lately at determining what's genuine and what's false, and his words were most certainly genuine. This was the Lumine he met at the Jakob Elevator that day, when there was the accident and he called for medics.

The elf held one hand out to Lumine to help him to his feet. I can tell he's being sincere, he thought, but I can't lower my guard. Not until I can absolutely trust him.

"I believe in second chances," explained X. "While I don't fully trust you, I can tell you're sincere. I hope you can understand why I'm still a little skeptical--after knowing Sigma, who was a good person until he became a Maverick, I have a bit of trouble with trust now."

That was really all that stopped him now. Axl was alive and well, despite his amnesia. Everything seemed normal. All that stopped him from trusting Lumine was that sinking feeling that he may turn Maverick again.

He sealed himself away to deal with whatever was in the shard--apparently the Sigma Virus--and it was removed. He copied a lot of data from the shard, and his systems seemed to be able to ward off the virus."
