The black reploid shrugged. "He might not have know at the time or it slipped his mind. According to X, when he found Z, he was in really bad condition. He didn't tell me how bad, but it must have been pretty bad with how worried he looked talking about it. Everything hurt.

Gradually coming to, Fefnir groaned as he slowly opened his eyes, squeezing them shut as harsh sunlight assaulted his senses. Even though he was a child of fire and earth, the eyes of the crimson reploid still ached horribly as the blinding rays burned his optics, having not seen the sun for quite some time. How long had he'd been offline for? Longer than he'd ever been before, judging by the amount of sand smothering his red and white armor. Planting his strong arms down onto the ground, Fefnir heaved himself upright, grains of sand falling like pale snowflakes as he freed himself from his earthy tomb. As he gazed around his bleak surroundings, bits and pieces of old data came flooding back into his memory banks; Omega, Zero, the explosion, Harpuia and Leviathan freezing in horror as the lethal flames came towards them, and his last sight of the Mother Elf as she whisked Zero away to safety...

Had Zero won and beaten Omega? If he had, then what had happened afterwards? Was Neo Arcadia still around? And if Fefnir was still alive, then what had happened to Harpuia and Leviathan? The Jin'en Commander stared at his hands numbly. He didn't seem to be damaged in any significant way, but the thought of having lost his brother and sister, and of Neo Arcadia being gone forever... Fefnir trembled, his thick armor rattling with the force of his shaking. Not once had he ever anticipated anything like this happening before, and the shock of finding himself utterly and completely alone confused and upset him greatly.

Staggering to his feet, the red reploid stood up slowly and wandered forwards, hoping to figure out where he was and find some answers to his questions.

Trudging his way through the desert sands, Fefnir wandered for what seemed like hours, though in reality only minutes had passed. Stabbing pains kept lancing through his head, forcing him to pause every now and again until his thoughts cleared somewhat. His limbs, already stiff through lack of activity lately, kept locking up on him, though that might have been because sand had managed to seep through his armor and catch in his exposed joints. Aggravating little grains that they were. Pausing again as the throbbing in his head grew particularly painful, Fefnir hissed and ground his teeth, dropping to his knees as he waited for it to pass. He was running on near-empty, having been without sufficient energy for goodness knows how long. Forcing his eyes to open, Fefnir stubbornly pulled himself back up onto his feet. There was a sandstorm coming, and to hell with being buried and forgotten if his energy reserves finally gave out.

Axl had slowed to a casual flight. He knew where Harpuia was going, but he didn't need to follow the green reploid. His assistance wasn't needed and the matter was probably personal, so he just flew around the desert. His sensors picked up a sandstorm approaching, so he turned to head back to the rebuilt Neo Arcadia.

However, something red on the surface caught his eye.

Diving down to it, the transformed pegasus landed close by, noticing the red figure to be a reploid and heavily damaged. "Hey, do you need help?" he hollered.

Fefnir blinked, unable to believe his eyes. One moment he was staggering blindly across the desert, the next he was being shouted at by some kind of mirage. Did reploids even see mirages? Thirsty travellers sometimes hallucinated, desperation causing them to imagine an oasis, but in Fefnir's case, his hallucination was some kind of bizarre... winged horse? Yep, he was definitely losing his mind. Rubbing grains of sand from his dimming eyes, Fefnir blinked again to try and clear his sight. The horse was still there, looking at him expectantly.

"H-help?" He rasped, his voice crackling through lack of recent use. He took a shaky step towards the pegasus, clutching Sodom and Gorromah tightly in case it was not a mirage, but a possible maverick just waiting to catch him off guard.

Iris was puzzled when Axl changed directions, but when she saw a red figure, she gasped.

Once Axl landed safely, Iris hopped off the creature and ran over to the stranger.

"My goodness!! Are you alright?!" Her tone clearly showed she was worried.

As Fefnir focused his attention on the winged horse, he was startled to realize that it wasn't alone. There was a reploid woman seated upon its back, riding on the creature as though it were her steed. The Jin'en Commander froze as she hopped off the horse's back and came running over towards him, asking if he was alright. Immediately as she approached, his overtaxed systems flared a multitude of emergency warnings at him, alerting him of an incoming attack. Attack? No. The sincerity in her voice couldn't possibly be mistaken as a hostile action, and her attire, while not Neo Arcadian, was definitely not that of Dr. Weil's forces either.

Fefnir stood his ground as the young woman reached him, but visibly relaxed, not seeming to feel as threatened by the female reploid as he did the winged horse. Far from seeming threatening, she was... beautiful. He swallowed dryly, more from the sudden awkwardness he felt than the concern of how his voice was, or rather wasn't, working so well right now.

"I-I'm not s-ss-sure," he crackled, his voice continuing to stutter annoyingly. Talking hurt. As soon as he finished those words, agonizing pain lanced through his head again as his internal systems struggled to handle so many tasks. "Tch!" he growled, as what little energy he had left began to redirect into his main core. The main part of his body which kept him running, and more importantly, alive.

Axl stated as he released his transformation and returned to his normal form with his winged tucked close to his back. Approaching the two, he gave a gentle smile at the red reploid. "Name's Axl. At once, the red reploid gaped as the creature transformed from a black pegasus and into a young reploid man bearing armor with similar colourations and accents. If the female reploid hadn't confirmed his senses that they were both indeed real, then Fefnir would have believed he'd finally cracked. A transforming reploid? That was completely unheard of in this day and age, where most reploids were barely built stronger than humans, although Fefnir could have sworn he remembered Phantom once speaking of such reploids in the distant past, and of the amazing abilities they were designed with before the Elf Wars occured and wiped most of them out. Could these two be such reploids?

Crazier things have happened... Fefnir thought to himself, as he glanced over at the young man. He couldn't help but stiffen again as the smaller male approached, but his friendly smile and gentle words settled the reactive programming which, until now, had screamed at him to defend himself against what it saw as a threat. If they were enemies, he reasoned with himself, then that was that. He just didn't have the energy to fight anymore.

"F-Fefnir. N-name's F-Fefnir," he stuttered, before feeling very tired all of a sudden. His eyes closing shut, Fefnir's last conscious sight was of the black-armored youth and the young woman he'd called Iris.

Iris swiftly caught Fefnir as he fell, holding him. He was rather heavy, so she looked to Axl for a little help. "Should we take him inside the city?"

Iris couldn't help but feel as though she'd embarrassed Fefnir for some reason... although she couldn't figure out why.

Nor Harpuia or X had time to say anything that an other guard suddenly rushed into the throne room.
"Harpuia-sama!" The guard screamed,as he entered the room.
"What's the meaning of this intrusion?!" Harpuia shouted.
"I-i-i-i-it's about the other Guardians,sir!"
Harpuia's face took a surprised expression.
"Speak!No!" Harpuia ordered.The guard did a military salute and said:
"Fefnir-sama's been found in a desert nearby!Some reports say that Mr.Axl and Ms.Iris are with him!"
"(Those two...)" Harpuia thought. "(He's safe then.) Thanks for that informations.I'm going now!"
Without even saying goodbye to X,which was really rare,Harpuia rushed outside and started to fly towards the desert as fast as his jetpacks were allowing him.

Feeling as though he was sinking down into the depths of the coldest ocean, Fefnir's energy almost gave out when all of a sudden, the faintest of sounds could be heard through the haze of exhaustion that had ahold of him. Somebody was calling his name, a voice he never thought he'd hear again. That voice... is that you... Harpuia? Fefnir thought to himself, having never heard the Rekku General sound so unsettled before. Sage Harpuia was always the calm and serious one, never one to panic unnecessarily. Hope returning, Fefnir's energy levels peaked a fraction, allowing him just enough power to open his eyes and see the green reploid crouching over him.

"H-h-hey... Harp..uia... l-long t-t-time no s-s-s-ee," he crackled, half amused at his friend's reaction and half embarrassed at being seen in such a deplorable state. Him, Fefnir, a stuttering pile of scrap metal! As the Jin'en Commander's senses heightened some more, he was startled to realize that Iris had somehow ended up underneath him, as though he'd fallen on top of her. The awkwardness he felt the first time upon seeing her returned tenfold as he noticed how his heavy frame was crushing her underneath his armored bulk. For the first time since his activation, he was thankful for being created with tanned skin, hoping that neither Iris wouldn't notice the subtle flushing of his cheeks nor (especially) Harpuia.

((Iris is very pretty. Zero obviously liked her a lot in MMX4, and I'm sure that other reploids would find her appealing as well. I've always liked Iris as a character, and even though she and Fefnir never officially met, I think it's interesting to imagine what they might have thought of each other. I've always thought that Fefnir might consider a girl as either cute or beautiful - pretty is too common a term and especially to a character as significant as Iris was. Hope Irismod isn't too bothered by this rambling thought process/idea!))

Iris and Harpuia both put Fefnir's arms around their necks to keep him steady. Poor Fefnir, he looked absolutely exhausted, and seemed like he was about faint any moment now.

Iris looked up when she noticed the sandstorm. That must've been why Axl changed directions earlier.

Iris looked at Fefnir and gave him an assuring smile. "You'll get repaired soon, okay?"

((Oh no, not at all! In fact I'm rather flattered! Iris is one of my favorite characters as well. I just really like her for some reason. Iris did her best to pitch in during the Maverick Wars; She didn't stay on the sidelines. I see her as being someone with a heart of gold, but knows how to take care of herself as well. Although the latter trait doesn't apply to a certain blond *coughCielcough* Plus, I just LOVE the Zero/Iris couple.))

I don't want to fight... But if I want to protect the ones I love and care for, then I will do whatever it takes to do so.

Axl stood to the side as Harpuia arrived and helped Iris with Fefnir. Their interaction was quite familiar to him. They seemed to have something like a sibling relationship. His scans alerted him to the approaching sandstorm, so he decided to do something about it.

"That sandstorm will be here in less than five minutes. We need to get out of here." he stated, transforming into his large dragon form. Kneeling in front of the trio, he offered his back. "It'll be quicker if I carry you guys to the base. Hop on and let's get going."

(Guys, try not to get too far ahead when another RPer isn't present, please.)

Axl. So that was the shapeshifting reploid's name, Fefnir noted to himself as he watched the smaller male transform once again. Instead of a winged horse however, this time the Jin'en Commander started as the black reploid transformed into a great dragon. He can transform into more than one creature? he thought to himself, awed at the sight. Horses were one thing, but dragons were something that Fefnir felt a keen affinity towards, being partially based on a dragon himself. And I thought my Armed Phenomenon was serious business... he thought, eyeing Axl's gleaming fangs with some wariness.

His thoughts were disturbed as both Harpuia and Iris shifted his weight suddenly, attempting to pull his large frame up onto Axl's waiting back. Pain signals lanced up and down his body as both reploids maneuvered his large frame as carefully as possible, but Fefnir gritted his teeth and restrained himself from lashing out, knowing that Harpuia and Iris were just trying to get him to safety. The sandstorm which had been approaching was now visible in the distance, and would arrive in less than a few minutes - just as Axl predicted. Fefnir's eyelids slowly began to close again as exhaustion overwhelmed him once more, distantly aware of both Harpuia and Iris on either side of his body, holding him steady on the great dragon's back.
