| Zero wandered down the hallways, trying his best to avoid a few certain people. He didn't want to actually deal with them at this point in time. He needed to get out of the little trance he was in first. The pod he had been trapped in messed up everything. Every so often, he would use the wall as a brace to keep walking and hold his head with his other hand. He probably looked like the human equivalent of drunk.
Every so often he would hear voices of the few familiar people in the base and quickly take off in the opposite direction in an attempt to not be spotted. However, one of the times he rounded a corner after hearing a certain cyber elf's voice he ended up running into a long haired brunette. At first all he saw was brown hair and mentally cursed thinking he'd run into X, however he soon realized that wasn't right. How could he run into X when he was moving away from the voice?
The girl in front of him was probably about as tall as X used to be, which made her somewhat short in comparison to him. He was rather shocked to see her in front of him. How had she survived? It didn't make much sense, but there was no point in thinking about it now. She was obviously there in front of him now.
...Iris. That was her name. Rather piercing red eyes looked down at the shorter reploid. He was dressed in his old Hunter armor and was the same height as he was back then, but his eyes were darker shade of red than his armor. Something was.. off about Zero.

| Iris squeaked when she bumped into somone. She grabbed her hat to avoid it falling off. "I'm sorry, I wasn't watching where I was go--" She saw familiar red armor, and slowly looked up...
Iris had a sharp intake of breath. Why was he here?! When did he get here?! She gulped, but then looked confused when she noticed his eye color. Zero had blue eyes, not red.
"Are you alright, Zero...?"
I don't want to fight... But if I want to protect the ones I love and care for, then I will do whatever it takes to do so.

| Zero didn't seem to have much of a reaction upon seeing Iris in front of him. That was a little strange considering what had happened. "Yeah, I'm fine." He stated. He quickly noticed she was looking at his eyes. He needed to make up an excuse for that, and quickly. "The recharge pod messed with with my eye color for some reason. It should go back to normal sometime soon." He explained somewhat simply. That would probably do enough to get Iris to ignore it for the most part. So long as neither of those two showed up, he should be fine.
Then again, he didn't know how he should act around Iris. If he acted the wrong way, it would probably give him away rather quickly. He needed to think fast.

| In her mind, Iris was somewhat surprised. Did Zero honestly think she wouldn't see something was wrong? And besides, how could a recharge pod of all things mess with someone's eye color?
"Zero, that was one of the most ridiculous excuses I have ever heard." Iris said and crossed her arms, giving Zero a look that clearly showed she wasn't falling for it. "And don't say that the recharge pod malfunctioned or something." If he wasn't going to be honest with her, Iris was going to go find X.

| Zero sighed. "Fine, I changed it myself. I wanted something different." He said frowning slightly. It seemed he'd have to be a bit more clever with the brunette in front of him. She was sharper than he remembered, but then again he didn't really remember much about Iris. His host was the one with all those memory files. He'd forgotten to change his eyes to blue to impersonate Zero better. Then again he hadn't expected to run into anyone. Hopefully Iris would buy that. He might be able to sneak away if she did. By the time she'd tell X, he would be long gone. For a while at least.

| Iris inched her face closer to Zero's and narrowed her eyes. Something was wrong, for three reasons.
Number one, Zero barely had any reaction to seeing Iris; She knew Zero preferred to hide his emotions, but he wasn't that apathetic.
Number two, Zero never even bothered to change his appearance, as that was something he didn't consider important.
Number three, Zero was acting like he wanted to get away from her as soon as possible.
Is was almost as if this wasn't Zero at all.
Deciding to let the subject drop and tell X as soon as possible, Iris sighed and backed off. Might as well play along.
"I... suppose that would be good enough reason..." Not likely. "Anyway, what are you up to?" Iris still had her arms crossed, though she seemed more relaxed.

| Zero could tell that Iris was buying none of what he was saying, but he didn't move when she got closer to him. He merely stared back at her. He almost wanted to just ignore the brunette and leave, but he wouldn't be that obvious. "I was just heading outside. I was going to go help retrieve working items from Neo Arcadia." He said finding that a good enough reason to leave. X was actually gathering the working technology and bringing it back to the base to fix it up. Slowly but surely the base was becoming more like Neo Arcadia used to be, just without citizens.

| Iris nodded. She found that a good enough reason to leave Zero alone. She was aware that X was getting functioning technology, so he probably did need some help. "I won't get in your way, then." However, her mind was thinking something else entirely.
Something is quite wrong. I have a feeling that this isn't Zero at all. I should probably warn X.

| "I'll see you around." Zero said before walking past Iris and down the hall. When he'd gotten around the corner however he took off running and quickly changed his eye color to blue. If he was going to avoid being put back into a security pod he would have to convince both X and Iris that he was the real Zero. He knew that the blond was actually out doing such a thing. He would just have to run into all of them at the same time. That would require quite a bit of timing, but he had a feeling he could pull it off.

| Iris carefully watched "Zero" walk away. She was convinced that that person was not the Zero she knew and loved. This imposter was too casual with her, plus he seemed like he wanted to bolt. He probably changed his eye color by now too...
Nodding to herself, she dashed off to go find X, hoping that, with his help, she could solve this problem.
She stopped when she suddenly remembered something and dashed off to the weapons room. She opened up a box, which appeared to have some sabers inside. Grabbed one, she nodded and went to go find X.

| Virus Zero kept tabs on where everyone was. He needed to time things perfectly. Zero would be back soon and he knew that Iris was going to go tell X. He would have to use his connection with the other blond to time reactions correctly and perfectly. This would definitely be fun.

X sighed and wiped his brow with his sleeve after setting down a rather heavy box of machinery. It was salvageable and looked like parts for a recharge pod. He'd already brought about seven heavy boxes in from the ruins of the old Neo Arcadia to work on the repairs. Hopefully soon, Neo Arcadia would be back to its former splendor.
As the brunette walked out of the storage room, a familiar young woman plowed right into him. "I-Iris, what's going on?"
I wish I could avoid violence...but if I did, this world wouldn't be able to live in peace. So I will fight for this world, to protect humans and Reploids alike.

| Virus Zero jumped down in front of Zero and grinned when the blond had returned to the base. He quickly took off running before Zero could catch him and lead his host right to X and Iris.
Both the virus and Zero skidded to a stop in front of the two and looked surprised. "X! The virus got out!" They called while pointing at each other. The accusation caused a glare from the two. "I'm not the virus, you are!" They said with malice in their voice. It was like watching a mirror.

| It took X a moment to register what Iris said, and less than a second later two Zeroes had shown up in front of them. He really didn't have time to react before Iris quickly hid, but he knew that he would have to pick the right one. And it was obvious.
"You're the fake," stated X, pointing to the armored Zero. Zero was still wearing casual clothes when he left the base.

| Virus Zero grinned. "You're too smart X. Let's make the odds greater." He said before making the lights go out. The hallway had no windows so it was pitch black. When the lights came on however, both of them were fully armored and for all intents and purposes were clones. They were even standing the same way.
Zero had been too busy trying to get the virus that he didn't even notice that Iris had been there. Although he did hear something move in the storage room he ignored it for the time being. He was going to have to fight to get the virus caught.

Hang on. He could probably bait the virus. X closed his eyes for a moment, and a second later, a pair of dark brown, white-tipped cat ears sprung out of his hair, and a similar tail formed. He mewled cutely; depending on their reactions, he could tell which was his Zero.

| Zero and Virus Zero merely raised an eyebrow at the now catlike X. The virus was kind of glad that was Zero's reaction, if for a completely different reason. Zero knew it was going to take a lot to get the virus to show that it was obviously him. Hopefully X had something better planned than that. Otherwise they might end up choosing the virus as the real Zero and not him.

| X sighed. He really couldn't do much of anything to figure out which was the real Zero short of just flat-out attacking them and seeing who reacted more violently and on instinct. When he heard Iris' voice however, he became very protective and concerned and immediately changed back to normal, standing between Iris and the two Zeroes. He'd been trying to just figure it out in a simple, harmless manner, but it clearly wasn't doing much.

| Virus Zero was glad for the connection between him and his host, otherwise he would've been given away immediately. Zero's eyes widened upon seeing Iris and he became rather hesitant. "Iris.?" So what he'd heard earlier was the girl in front of him. His feelings were rather mixed up and he wasn't exactly sure what he was feeling. The virus managed to copy Zero exactly and was forced to speak as well lest he give himself away. It really was just like a mirror. Internally however the virus was having fun. Seeing Zero so confused was entertaining to no end.

| Zero wasn't expecting Iris to attack and ended up barely dodging the attack. Unfortunately his reaction time was a little slow so he ended up getting slashed in the side. He grunted and kneeled down on one knee while holding the open wound in his side. He didn't say anything and merely looked up at Iris.
Virus Zero had actually over reacted and ended up doing what Zero had planned seconds before the other blond had. Which caused Iris to mistake the real Zero for the fake. He couldn't have planned something better. This was great.

| While he was angered that Zero was injured, X was now smirking. Iris had managed to find the real Zero, meaning the fake couldn't hide anymore. The elf slipped one hand into his robe and drew a pistol--his Cyber Buster. He aimed it and charged a shot, firing directly for Virus Zero's head.

| "I'm fine." Zero said while continuing to hold his side. Those sabers were cranked up to the highest setting so even the smallest of hits did pretty bad damage. He was just glad he'd moved, otherwise the hole would probably halfway through his midsection.
Virus Zero saw X move and immediately looked at the cyber elf. He quickly ducked out of the way of the shot and actually growled. "You can't get rid of me that easily X." He grinned when he saw the somewhat evil smirk on the brunette's face. It reminded him of Zero's when he went crazy. He would've said as much, but thought better of speaking too much and keeping his guard up.

| Zero managed to stand on his own, however that didn't last for too long. Virus Zero dodged the second shot and grabbed Zero from Iris and held the blond in front of him like a shield. He was still grinning. "Are you gonna shoot at me now X? That expression you have says you might." He stated somewhat hinting that maybe X was Maverick. It wasn't a serious accusation, but it would definitely make the brunette angry.

| X began to charge a shot. Regardless of whether or not he hit Zero now, he WOULD destroy that virus and erase it from the face of the earth.
His finger started to tighten on the trigger.

| "Maverick! You're going to kill your friend! Does it feel good X? To try and kill me even if you might hit your friend?" The virus accused now fully aware X was angry enough to not care about hitting Zero. He grinned. "We're the same X. All three of us. We're murderers." He stated glaring at the cyber elf in front of him. He'd forgotten about Iris.
Zero looked rather surprised that X was still going to shoot. He smiled slightly and looked away to stare at the wall. The virus needed to be destroyed and if he were in the way, then so be it. It was better than having Virus Zero run around causing havoc.

| Iris simply stared at the scene before her. X was getting angry and ready to shoot regardless of the fact that Virus Zero was using the real Zero as shield, the virus was as smug as ever, and Zero seemed to except the situation.
Not if Iris could help it.
"ENOUGH!!!" With surprising speed, she dashed towards the Zeros and stabbed the fake in the shoulder.
I don't want to fight... But if I want to protect the ones I love and care for, then I will do whatever it takes to do so.

| X hadn't even noticed that his eyes had turned bright red and his finger was tightening on the trigger. The stimulus that snapped him out of his anger was Iris' voice. The second he heard her, and the moment he saw a saber pierce the virus' shoulder, he snapped back to his senses and dropped the Cyber Buster, falling to his knees in shock.

| Virus Zero growled and held his shoulder where the saber had been jammed into it. How annoying.
Zero was dropped onto the ground and he fell onto his knees, but managed support himself with one hand. The wound in his side still hurt quite a bit, but he was more concerned about X and Iris at the moment. Zero forced himself to his feet and shoved the virus into one of the empty rooms before jamming the door shut. That should keep him occupied for a little while.

| Iris was able to pull her saber out of the virus' shoulder in time before the real Zero pushed his doppleganger inside the empty room.
Iris looked at the saber, then threw it away in disgust. She then looked at X and walked over to him. She kneeled down next to him and put a hand on his shoulder.
