| Vile walked through the halls of the subterranean of the hunter base. The Maverick activity has been on the lower ends of the average lately and that drove Vile nuts. He loved battle, he loved victory. During the walk, he came across the only hunter besides Commander Sigma who could keep up with him, Zero.
"Well, well, didn't expect to see you in this area." Vile said, "You normally stick to the above ground levels."

| Zero paused and looked at the fellow Hunter. "I felt like a change of scenery." He stated somewhat coldly. It was rather obvious he didn't care much for Vile, but then again he acted that way towards everyone. "What are you doing down here?" He asked while crossing his arms over his chest. Running into Vile was almost never a good sign. The purple reploid tended to like to fight whenever he was given the chance.

| "I needed a place to be alone." Vile said, "Some of those freaks who do the record keeping won't leave me alone about my mission reports." Vile continued walking, walking right past Zero, "I have other things I need to do, so you can calm down, besides, you'd never be able to take me."

| Zero snorted and rolled his eyes at the last comment, but didn't actually say anything. It wasn't worth commenting on. Besides, he needed to find some old parts to fix up a newer wound. He continued walking where he'd initially been headed. Although he did have some respect for Vile, it was diminished by the fact that the purple reploid thought that Zero was so much more weaker than him. But it was always best to ignore things as much as possible. He needed to finish his repairs anyway.

| Vile eventually found a nice quiet area which was an old workshop, but to be fair, the nice quiet wasn't what Vile was interested in. When he had a routine system scan to make sure all systems were still running properly, he figured out his systems had quite a bit of room for upgrades. So he decided to expand upon his basic weapon systems, front runner, grenades, and vulcan. He decided to start with an upgrade on his arm. Unfortuantly, when he separated his right arm from the rest of his body, he realized he was missing a needed tool to reattach it. Groaning, he went back out into the halls hoping he could find one.

| It took some time, but Zero managed to find the part he needed. It was his elbow joint, however, he needed to detach his entire left arm to actually get to it. After fixing the joint, he used the tools he had to reattach his arm and test out the fix. It seemed to work well. At least his arm wouldn't get jammed anymore. He hadn't exactly been quite so more than likely anyone walking out in the hallway would've heard him.

| Vile knew the sound he heard, someone reattached a limb. "Great. Now I can get that tool and," Vile didn't even have time to finish his sentance before Zero left the room and nearly bumped into him. Vile instinctively reached for Front Runner to aim it, but couldn't since everything above his right elbow was missing.

| Zero looked at Vile with an almost bored expression since it was obvious that the Hunter was going to attack him, that is if he wasn't missing his arm. "Calm down. I have no interest in fighting you when you're missing your arm." He stated before pushing past the purple reploid so that he could walk past him. He didn't really have a reason to be down there any longer, so he planned to return above ground.

| Vile cursed silently, Zero was able to talk down to him. To HIM! But that didn't matter as much as the task at hand. Grabbing the reattachment tool, he went back to the old workshop and got to work. He installed a form of propulsion at the base of his forearm and a traction beam at his elbow. If this worked, he'd have to expand upon it. But for now, it would do. "I can't wait to test this thing out. I can't wait for the next Maverick attack." Vile began to return the the normal levels of the base, itching for a fight.

| Zero was forced to immediately order the lower class Hunter's around the moment he came back above base. They apparently decided it was a good idea to stand around and do nothing when he wasn't around. Fortunately for those on other floors, they could hear him and get back to work before he reached them. Oh well. He'd deal with the idiots as they came about.

| Vile was walking around the base, trying to find ONE thing he could challenge to a fight. But his reputation caused most people to run when they saw him. Luckily, he found a few recruits who where just sitting around, doing nothing. They may have been under Zero's command, but they'd do.

| Zero was busy finishing up his duties around the base. Basic paperwork, cleaning up after the rookies and such. However he wasn't expecting to get a call from some recruits. He couldn't hear all of it, but he had heard enough. Vile was attacking them. If he needed any more confirmation he could hear shots being fired. He swore and ran up to where the recruits were.

| Vile laughed as he sent another recruit flying with a blast from Front Runner. "Man, you guys really are pathetic! Is this what the hunters recruit?" Vile mocked. During which one of the recruits attempted to get away. Vile wasn't about to let that. "Perfect chance." He said pointing his right arm at the recruit. "Let's see how well this thing works. Go-Getter Right!" Vile's entire arm above his elbow fired off and slammed the reploid into the wall just as a door was opening.

| Zero actually let out a growl when he saw the state of his recruits. "Damnit Vile! Attack your own damn recruits, not mine!" He ordered through clenched teeth. He was tired of Vile attacking those under his command. He had to deal with them complaining to him, and even back sassing him more than enough. He didn't need this on top of it. He called for some medics and pushed the recruits out of the room.

| "I'd watch that tone of yours Zero," Vile said as his arm flew back to him and reattached, "You may be stronger, but I always will be stronger. The fact I easily upgraded myself with a brand new weapon system shows that."
Though hidden by his visor, Vile game Zero the smuggest look he could. He knew that Zero only had one weapon and one attack. So bragging about a new weapon he added to himself should strike a blow to Zero's ego.

| "Congratulations Vile. I guess you would need an upgrade to take on a Maverick." Zero commented while putting one of his hands on his hips. Vile bragging about his new weapon seemed to have the opposite effect desired, as the blond just dogged on him more. The only upgrades Zero ever used were for his buster, and they didn't even do all that much. Most of them were for energy consumption.

| Vile began to see red at the blond's comment. "You think I'm inferiour? Why don't you put your buster where your mouth is." Vile said a machine gun exposing from his right arm, "You are a skilled hunter Zero, but don't forget, I'm a member of Sigma's elites. You really think you can come close to beating me?"

| Zero snorted in disgust. "I'd rather die than be in Sigma's elites. You all are nothing but pompous reploids who think you're all better than everyone. I could beat half your fellow elite members." He stated obviously confident in his ability to take on the elites. There were a few he'd have trouble with, namely Vile and Sigma, but he'd never show weakness. They'd just go after him instead of the rookies if he did.

| "Well, you aren't me." Zero said, obviously not going to budge on his stance. He could tell Vile was waiting for something. More than likely for his weapons to cool. That was quite a problem that the purple reploid had. His weapons overheated too easily. That's probably why he had so many of them.

| Vile stood there, staring down Zero. A light beep indecated his weapons were ready again. "And when I'm done, you won't be anyone!" Vile launched a grenade from his left knee straight at the red hunter.

| Zero jumped out of the way and rolled back onto his feet before firing a half charged shot at Vile. He hadn't exactly been aiming at anywhere specific, but it hit the enemy reploid in his knee joint, right where he'd shot the grenade from.

| Vile clutched his knee. If he hadn't just fired a grenade, the shot would have struck his armor, not the exposed systems. This meant Vile was pretty much crippled from the first attack. Grabbing Front Runner, Vile began to spit out shots as fast as he could.

| Zero dashed around the room in an attempt to avoid the shots. He risked getting seriously damaged, but he didn't want this fight to drag out forever. He charged up a shot and dashed straight for Vile. Although he was hit quite a few times, they were never in the same place which allowed him to get close. He planted his buster right against the purple reploids chest and fired off the shot. The kickback sent him backwards, along with getting hit from Vile's front runner. He skidded when he landed on the ground again, but didn't go down. Some of his joints were sparking and his armor was rather dented.

| The blast had caused Vile to lose almost all power for his weapons. If he would wait, it would recharge and he could continue this fight. But for now, he couldn't use any weapon. "That was a lucky shot Zero. You actually drained my weapon power. But that doesn't mean it's over yet."

| Vile didn't have much in the way of actual skill and techniuque in hand-to-hand, but he did have a powerful punch, hence the installation of the rocket punch weapon system. "Let's do this!" Vile yelled charging straight at Zero. Zero was faster than him, so he'd have to catch him off guard to get the upper hand in this fight.

| Zero dashed at Vile and planned to land a punch right on his helmet. He was careful and made sure to keep track of Vile's punches. He knew the elite reploid had a weapon system that enhanced how powerful his punches were. Too many hits and he would be down for a while. Zero wasn't weak himself however. His punches always had quite a bit of force behind them.

| Vile managed to duck under the blow and throw an uppercut into Zero's chin. The blow caused Zero to stumble back before Vile lunged at him full force.

| Zero stumbled backwards a few steps from the impact but managed to regain his composure. He dropped down onto his back and planted his feet on Vile's chest forcing the purple reploid to be flipped over him and into the wall. He used the momentum to flip himself back onto his feet and he turned to face Vile. He wasn't one to attack someone that was on the ground so he waited.

| Vile climbed back to his feet. During his attack, he had managed to gather enough energy for a shot from Front Runner. But he was going to use it wisely. Once again he threw a punch, only purposly missing on the right side of Zero's face putting it right up with the barrel of his shoulder cannon. Vile wasted no time it taking this shot.

| Zero heard the Front Runner powering up for a shot after he'd dodged the punch from Vile. He quickly hit the gun away from his face. Instead, it hit him in his shoulder and he retaliated by jamming his buster into Vile's gut and firing off a half charged shot. He quickly jumped back and covered up his shoulder with his hand. He was stupid for thinking Vile would play fair.

| Zero waited for a moment before approaching Vile. He kept his distance not wanting the purple reploid to gain an upperhand. "This fight's over Vile." He said noticing that the elite reploid couldn't stand on his own. He'd sapped Vile's energy earlier so he couldn't really shoot unless Zero stayed in there for a few minutes. Which he didn't plan on doing.

| Zero went over to Vile and kicked the downed reploid square in the jaw causing Vile to fall backwards onto his back. "I don't exactly get much out of kicking you around when you can't even stand." Zero said looking down at the purple reploid. He looked annoyed and bored all at the same time.

| Vile struggled to stand yet again but failed. As much as he hated it, he knew he was beat. But that look, it irritated him SO MUCH. He had to do something. Zero turned to leave and all Vile could do was lay there.

| Zero shook his head. "Are you done? If you are I'll call the medics in here." He stated not one to just leave someone stranded and hurt. Besides he knew Sigma would yell at him if he did. There was no point in letting that happen. But he'd keep hitting Vile if the downed reploid insisted.

| Vile tried one last time to get up, but his systems simply wouldn't allow it. "I'll admit it. It's over. I can't go on." Vile said, "But I will NOT have medics called in for me. I will either die or survive on my own." Vile's gauntlet began to beep loudly indecating his power was down to the bottom 10% of max, well below the accepted low point.

| "You need energy." Zero stated somewhat calmly. Regardless of if Vile accepted his kind gesture or not wasn't his concern. He set an energy canister next to the elite reploid before leaving. Vile wanted to survive on his own then so be it. He knew that the purple reploid could move his arms enough to connect the energy canister up since Vile had moved slightly when he tried to force himself to stand.

| Once he was sure Zero left, he did reach out for the energy canister and recharged. With his system restored with energy, he crawled into a corner of the room and began to make any crude repairs he could. 'Once I can walk again, I can probably repair myself.' Vile thought. He knew that he should thank Zero for the help, but he couldn't, he should have been able to win that fight. So, he'll simply make himself stronger and challenge him again later.

| Zero went back to his room and repaired the damage Vile had done to him before giving himself a quick recharge. He still had work to do, so he didn't have the time to rest. As annoying as it was this was a usual cycle. Although most of the time he didn't fight Vile. They usually just back mouthed each other before going on about their duties. Their were a few exceptions to that. Like today.

| Nearly a week later, Vile was back to normal. His systems were all running at full power. Even the fact that he lost a fight to Zero didn't matter much to him anymore. Word was spreading around the base that a new hunter was being recruited.

| Although recruits weren't exactly all that interesting news, it was rather surprising whenever someone was recruited to be a new Hunter. Most of their rookies were recruits that never showed any promise and thus never gained any rank. The newest recruit was said to be quite powerful however, which was why news was spreading like wildfire.
He actually ran into Vile while ordering some of the lower class Hunters to get back to work instead of gossip about the new Hunter. He looked over at the elite reploid. "Glad to see you're better." He stated. Although he wasn't being sarcastic, it was obvious he didn't really care. "You think the new recruit will show any promise?" He asked in a slight attempt to make small talk with Vile. In all honesty he wondered if the purple reploid believed that the new recruit would be any good.
I'm not arrogant, but I don't make mistakes. I just cut down my enemies.

| "No clue." Vile said, "He's said to have a lot of potential. But we've heard that from every recruit." Vile was already thinking of how great it would be to have some fresh meat to tenderize. All the other hunters would avoid him like the plague if he wanted a fight. Except Zero that is.

| "Every recruit has 'potential'. The only difference between those that gain ranks and those that don't is discipline and hard work." Zero stated remembering that everyone always said that rookies could become high class Hunters. Yeah, maybe if they actually trained. "He's supposed to be coming to the base today." He said remembering what the report had outlined. The recruit should be there within the next twenty minutes. He thought about going to see what the recruit looked like. Most times he could gauge whether or not they were worth the effort to train.

| "Yeah right." Vile scoffed, "That's a laugh. The difference between those who gain ranks and don't is battlefield expertise. You can't be a hunter if you aren't willing to go toe-to-toe with that Maverick on his own terms." Vile's voice had a hint of strange energy to it as he explained his views on what made a good hunter. "And I should know, not only am I the best hunter there is besides commander Sigma, I am the most advanced reploid there is." A transport ship arrived, the one the new recruit would be arriving on.

| Zero snorted when Vile continued talking. "You can't be the most advanced reploid if others were built before you." He stated before walking to the transportation bay. Some of the older reploids were more advanced, although they weren't combat reploids. He really didn't feel like bantering with Vile. Although the elite reploid had been somewhat right in what made a good Hunter, they also needed to know how to train effectively as well. However, he was more interested in seeing the new recruit than continuing talking with Vile. He was rather surprised at how the recruit looked. He wasn't sure why though. Lots of Hunters were flocked to meet the new recruit. Or to talk down to them.

| When the transport ship landed and the door opened, a single new recruit stepped out, and it was likely he wasn't what anyone was expecting.
He was built like a fourteen or fifteen year old teenage boy of average height, with dark and sky blue armor over a blue bodysuit, white gloves, and a rounded helmet with a red jewel in the forehead. He had large, bright green eyes and had an overall youthful and naive appearance. It was clear he was the equivalent of a kid.
When the new recruit noticed that nearly the entire Hunter base had come out to see him, he immediately turned shy and looked down at the ground.
I wish I could avoid violence...but if I did, this world wouldn't be able to live in peace. So I will fight for this world, to protect humans and Reploids alike.

| Vile was in disbelief. "This guy is the new hunter?" Vile asked shocked, "You got to be kidding me! He's a wimp!" Vile just couldn't take it. "Everyone out of my way." Vile said. All hunters knew that tone. It was his 'anyone questions me you get to take the place of my punching bag' tone. So naturally, every one got as far away from him as possible.
