| Axl growled as, once again, he missed his target. He had been at this for an hour and he couldn't seem to get it right. What was it? Training with a short sword. The copy reploid was so used to using just his pistols and the weapons frpm his copy forms that using a new type of weapon was...odd.
Long range was his forte, not short range. Heck, he could use his pistols to shot an opponent in the head from a mile away. But he wanted to learn close-combat techniques so he could utilize them during missions in case of an emergency where long range wasn't as effective.
But he just couldn't get the hang of using a saber! He sighed in exasperation as the red-head plopped on his butt and crossed his legs Indian-style. "Why can't I get this?!"

| Zero ended up wandering around the base and came across the training room. Since he'd gotten his memories back he knew who the red head was sitting in the middle of the room. Axl seemed to be highly frustrated about something. He figured he might as well offer whatever help he could. It couldn't hurt.
He entered the training room and went over to Axl. "Having trouble with something?" He asked looking down at the red head. He took note of the saber, but didn't say anything about it. It seemed the younger reploid was trying to train in close combat.
Unfortunately Zero still hadn't had time to fix up his armor, so he was still in civilian clothes, one hand in his pocket.

| The copy reploid looked up with a frown, but it quickly turned into a smile when he saw the blonde and he stood up. From what little he remembered from his hibernation sickness and what X had told him, this was Zero. At least he believed it was Zero since he had long blonde hair, but where was his red armor? Might as well make sure, right?
"Hi, you're Zero, right? How are you?"

| Zero was a little surprised that Axl didn't remember him, but then again he hadn't seen the prototype in a rather long time. "Yeah, I'm Zero. And I'm okay. What about you?" He asked politely. He was rather curious as to what had happened to Axl since the red head didn't seem to remember him. Then again it had seemed like the reploid had just vanished all those years ago.

| "I'm doing good. X suggested that, since I have hibernation sickness, until my memory files unlock, I should do something to make sure all my systems were in order so it's one less thing to worry about when they do unlock." he said with a smile, fiddling with the short sword in his hand.
"From what I do remember, I was a long range fighter, using my pistols to pick off my opponents from the shadows, kinda like a ninja. But then I thought to myself, what if I'm in a situation where my pistols and copy chip don't work? So I've been trying to get the hand of using a sword, but I can't seem to get it right." the boy pouted in disappointment with himself.

| Hibernation sickness? So Axl went into hibernation as well? "Well, you can't just pick up a sword and swing it and expect to be good. You need to learn the basics. Your stance is probably one of the most important things to learn if you're going to use a sword." Zero said while idly watching Axl mess with the sword in his hands. It would probably be difficult, but he might be able to teach Axl how to wield a sword properly.

| The boy chuckled at that. "I know that. But I don't want to be caught off guard in my...debilitated state. So I thought I'd start training myself to see how it went. Problem is...I'm so use to wielding my pistols independently that, holding a single saber is throwing off my equilibrium a bit." He sweatdropped at his confession and gave a nervous giggle. Maybe Zero could help with that? He was a bit scared to ask, though.

| "Well, you could go for two daggers instead of a sword." Zero suggested. It seemed that being so used to using two pistols had inhibited him in wielding a single sword. Either that or it was the weight of the sword. "Whatever you decide I could try to help you. If you have a good stance you shouldn't be off balance no matter how you move." He offered noticing that Axl seemed to be a bit afraid of him. That would be a little harder to teach Axl, but it was one of the more important things. You always needed balance when wielding a sword.

| "I guess that could work. Start with something I'm use to and work my way up. You wouldn't mind helping?" the redhead asked, before blushing and looking off to the side. "I mean there's probably other things you could do besides wasting time helping me."
Crud, why did he say that? Zero probably thought he didn't like him now, but it wasn't that. He just didn't want to bother him. He felt like he did that enough with X when he first woke up. Axl didn't want to burden the blonde with his issues.

| "I don't mind. Besides, it's important that you know how to defend yourself in any situation." Zero stated and held out his hand in an offer to pull Axl to a standing position. He could tell that the red head thought that he was bothering him. That wasn't it at all though. "Do you want to practice with daggers or the sword?" He asked not knowing which Axl would prefer to train with.
He wasn't all that great with daggers, but he was probably better than the prototype was at the moment. He knew how to use them well enough to train Axl.

| Taking the offered hand, Axl pulled himself up, happy that he wasn't burdening Zero with this minor issues. At the blondes question, he paused and thought for a moment. "I really wanted to learn how to use a saber, but I think starting off with the daggers would be better in a long run. They're the size of my pistols and can be used in both long and short range combat. Once I get the hang of those, then I can work my way up to the short sword. Does that sound like a good idea?" he asked.

| Zero nodded. "It's always good to have a variety of weapons you can use. Other than guns." He said remembering that Axl could copy his enemies weapons. He went over to the weapons locker and pulled out two pairs of daggers before handing the red head a pair. "When you get good enough we can try sparring." He informed Axl before looking over the daggers he had for himself.
It took him a few moments before he remembered how to use them properly. He flipped them around so that the blades were parallel to his forearms and looked over at the prototype. "Are you ready?" He asked glancing back over at Axl.

| The younger took the daggers hesitantly and shifted them in his hands. They were a lot easier to handle than the short sword, so maybe this was the better route to take. He rolled the daggers in his palms for a bit, trying to find the right grip. He looked at the blonde for some advice, only to notice the way he held his pair of daggers. Flipping them around to mimic Zero, Axl smiled nervously when he gripped the weapons comfortable. "I think I'm ready, or as ready as I'm gonna be." he chuckled with a grin.

| Zero got into a fighting stance, mostly just to show Axl how he should stand. His feet were further apart than a normal standing position, but they weren't too far apart and he moved his arms in front of him. The way he held the daggers caused them to be in a good position to defend himself if he needed to, and he could switch how he held them depending on if he was going on defensive or offensive.
"Okay Axl, you should be able to mimic my stances." He said looking over at the red head. "You'll want to try and keep a stance like this for however long you're fighting. It'll allow you to keep your balance and move quickly if necessary. The way you hold them will help you to defend yourself and attack at the same time. But you can also change how you're holding them if you want to attack in a different way." He tried to explain as best he could. He wasn't the best trainer, but he could teach someone given enough time.

| Axl slid into a stance similar to Zero's, or at least he thought it was. He felt a little odd like this, not use to the tight stances of close combat. The young reploid shifted a little, putting his left foot forward and his right leg back, tensed to dodge or charge. His right arm was down by his side with the dagger pointing forward while his left was up in front of him as a defense, the dagger being parallel to his forearm like Zero's was.
"Is this a good stance?"

| "Depends on if you want to focus more on defense or offense. Depending on which you want, you'll change your dominant hand's position. As for your stance, we can only see if it's good when we spar. Each fighter has a different stance of their own, the basics just help them find one that fits." Zero explained. The reason he had both his daggers in a defensive position was because he planned to have Axl attack him. That was really the only way he could correct the younger reploid. Telling him what to do would only do so much.
"Now, I know you don't particularly know how to wield the daggers, but I want you to attack me." Zero ordered. "Don't worry about hitting me." He didn't want Axl to hold back. He couldn't get better that way. "I'll correct you as you go."

| The red head nodded at the instructions. Okay, dominate hand leads, so...
Axl charged forward and did an upwards slash with his right dagger, keeping his left in a defensive position as he curved his right hand to bring the small blade down on a diagonal. After that, he would wait for feedback from his teacher.

| Zero easily blocked the attacks as Axl was moving slowly, no doubt because he wasn't exactly sure what he was doing. "Good. Now do it again, but try to keep your stance. If you ignore that part your enemy could throw you off balance easier than they should be able to." He stated. "I could do 'attacks' while you're attacking to show you what you're doing wrong, if that would help." He suggested, not knowing how Axl learned. If he knew how the red head learned things he might be able to think of some other ways to help him.

He asked getting back in his battle stance. He still had both daggers parallel to his forearms and looked at Axl, waiting for the okay to start.

| Axl exhaled as he turned his right dagger to be at a 90 degree angle with his arm, poking outward. Stay calm and don't stress out his regulator. He kept forgetting to have X fix that.
"Ready." he said before he attacked with a horizontal slash of his right dagger.

| It was a bit hard for Zero not to react as he typically should. Axl was a bit slower, but he was learning. Most of the time he would just be blocking the red head's attacks, like now, but he would attack if there was an obvious opening. He analyzed Axl quickly and saw no bad flaws in how the younger reploid was. He flipped the dagger around that was in his right hand and attacked with a downward strike of his dagger. He had to force himself to move as fast as Axl was, that way he had a chance to defend himself. Once Axl got better they could spar at a faster pace.

| The black reploid chided himself for his slow timing. Sure, it was a learning process, but it was annoying that Zero had to go slow for him. However, at the same time, he was grateful for it, or else he'd have a lot of damage on his armor, despite his increased defensive abilities. Axl barely blocked Zero's strike and countered with an upward strike of his own. If he got more fluent with the daggers, then he'd get quicker with said weapon. And quicker meant better sparring.

| Zero jumped backwards before dashing back towards Axl. He'd not taken into consideration that he probably should've slowed his dash as well, and was on the red head again before he'd even started to pull the dagger back to position. He used to opportunity to teach the younger reploid about keeping balance no matter what. He jammed his shoulder into Axl's open side to see if he'd be able to keep his balance or not. If he could it would be a perfect time to retaliate.

| The blonde's shoulder slam connected with Axl's side and caused him to skid a bit before he easily slid back into his stance. He didn't know why, but he started twirling his daggers. It was an instinct and prayed it didn't fail him. Staying where he was, he waited for Zero to attack again.

| Zero couldn't help but smile. Axl was a natural with the stance it seemed. He idly wondered why the red head had started to twirl the daggers he had, but didn't bother asking. If Axl wished to wield them that way then he could. He charged at the prototype again, this time without dashing, and slashed at Axl horizontally with both daggers.

| Protocols were lining up in Axl's head as his battle instincts kicked in. Something about this seemed so familiar, like he had been in a similar situation before. When Zero slashed at him from both sides, his hands immediately grabbed his daggers in a defensive position and blocked. Then he swept out a leg in retaliation, aiming to hook it behind one of Zero's legs and pull it towards him, which would cause the blonde to fall backwards.

| Zero could tell that Axl was becoming more familiar with what he was doing. That was always a good sign. His reaction timing was getting better as well. When Zero's leg was pulled out from underneath him he immediately used the momentum to do a backflip. He attempted to kick one of the daggers out of the red head's hand that way he wouldn't be able to just charge him until he'd actually landed.

| The kick had sent the younger's right dagger into the air and Axl reeled his hand back more from shock than actual pain. Jumping back while Zero back flipped, he grabbed his dagger as it came back down and returned to his stance with a grin, daggers at 90 degree angles from his hands pointing outwards. This was getting fun and more of his hibernating battle protocols were coming online.
"Did I always find sparring fun?" he asked the blonde curiously.

He threw his left hand dagger at the red head's right hand. "We've only sparred maybe twice." He stated before fixing his stance since he only had one weapon now. He had returned to a more defensive position.

| Axl gave a small yelp before deflecting the thrown weapon upwards. Then he dashed at his sparring partner with the intention to slash upwards with his right hand and give a jab with the left right afterwards.

| Zero attempted to block the upwards slash with his dagger and grab Axl's left hand before the blow connected. He could tell that the red head was starting to get his fighting capabilities back. That was always good. If he managed to grab Axl's hand and hold the reploid still he would headbutt the red head and then attempt to kick him away. If not he'd just try his best to defend himself with one weapon.

| A 'clang' sounded as the two crossed blades. When his jabbing hand was grabbed, he gasped and gave a short cry of pain as the blonde headbutted him. As he felt a kick to his gut, Axl acted quickly, grabbing the leg and attempting to throw the other off balance.

| When Axl grabbed his foot, Zero immediately dropped onto his back and attempted to use the momentum to throw the red head over him and away. That way he would have time to get back up and grab his other dagger. If that didn't work he'd try to use his other leg to kick Axl off balance.

| The copy reploid was expecting the blonde to roll to the side, not fall back. As a results, he rolled over the other and had to act quickly before he faceplanted on the ground. He released his grasp on the leg and planted his hand in front of him so he could pole-vault up and back onto his feet. Skidding a bit he came to a stop and assumed his defensive stance, waiting for the other's next move.

| Zero used the momentum he had to flip back over onto his feet. He dashed over to his dagger and picked it up quickly before spinning around to face Axl. He stood there for a moment, studying the red head while maintaining a defensive position. He was calculating his next plan of attack. Normally he wouldn't take so long to do so, but they were just sparring.
After deciding on a tactic he dashed at Axl and brought one of the daggers down hard in an attempt to knock one or both of the prototype's daggers out of his hands and planned to use a horizontal slash afterwards. Although most reploids that would be using daggers wouldn't have quite as much power behind the attacks that Zero did, it was always good to know how to react in any given situation.

| The black reploid gasped at the sudden speed of his companion and brought his blades up in a quick defense. The strike sent a shockwave through his arms and one of his daggers was sent stabbing into the ground right by his foot. He also slid a bit by the hit and he grunted at the effort to not fall back.
The horizontal strike nearly caught him off guard, but he managed, just barely, to block it by grabbing Zero's wrist with his now free hand as his remaining dagger held off the first strike. "Are you good with all bladed weapons?" he panted out, straining to hold the blonde's attack back.

| "I try my best to be a well rounded fighter. You can't always fight in the best circumstances." Zero stated before jumping back from Axl to get out of the red heads hold. He didn't bother getting back into a stance as Axl seemed rather exhausted. However he would keep training if the prototype wanted to.

| Axl stumbled a little when Zero jumped away , but caught himself before the other had a chance to attack. However, he blinked in confusion when Zero stood there doing nothing. Were they calling it quits for now? Bending down, the copy reploid tugged the dagger from its place on the ground and looked at his companion, assuming a relaxed position, but staying on his guard in case the other was trying to get the drop on him.
"How did I do? Probably horrible." he asked, mumbling the last part, hoping Zero didn't hear.

| Zero chuckled. Axl always got down on himself during training or combat even if he did well. "If you did horrible you wouldn't be standing. Of course we could always train with me not holding back at all and see how you do." He said while flipping one of the daggers around. "Regardless, you're a rather proficient fighter. Just from that sparring session you should be able to defend yourself from most close encounter attacks. Unless they have a high power output. Then you might want to get away as fast as possible." He stated knowing that Axl wouldn't be able to deal with multiple high power attacks in a row. If he had have done two powerful strikes in a row Axl would've lost both weapons and essentially be dead as the impact would cause him to be distracted long enough to get hit.
Zero did want to fight with Axl without holding back, but he also didn't want to hurt the red head. He was curious as to how well the Hunter would do without restrictions. And he hadn't had a good sparring match in a long time.

| The young reploid looked to the ground and chewed on his lip, a habit of his that his superiors sometimes found annoying and portrayed his self-doubt. Was he really good enough? All he basically remembered were hit-and-run tactics. Would just that simple sparring session be enough? He blinked as another lost memory clicked into place.
"You don't give praise or compliments easy. And you were severely holding back on me, weren't you?" he questioned, biting his lip again.

| "I'll let you judge that for yourself if you'd like to go another round." Zero stated now twirling both daggers in his hands. "If you can't spare getting damaged then I wouldn't suggest agreeing." He said not wanting to actually hurt Axl. "Although you're right about the praises and compliments." He had started flipping the daggers into the air and catching them. Almost as if he were juggling the sharp objects.
He'd gladly spar with Axl for a second time without holding back. Just so long as the prototype wouldn't end up getting hurt. Since Axl had on his armor he figured the red head would be fine as long as it was as good as it was when they last saw each other.

| Zero paused and looked at Axl noticing he'd recieved a systems message. He was a tad confused himself. As far ad he could remember the prototype had only been able to wield guns effectively. Then again his memories liked to work when they felt like it so he wasn't completely sure.
"Well we could always test it." Zero suggested. He didn't really have any other idea. "Although if you wanna spar with a double scythe I'm using a sword." He stated. He didn't know how to use that weapon well enough to fight with it effectively, or the way it should be used, and decided he could just use a sword to fight.

| A frown formed as the redhead tried to access more memories, but all that was restored was a few instances that he used the double-scythe in training or battle. It was getting frustrating how he could only remember the bare minimum when he wanted to remember everything.
Sighing in defeat at another error from his memory files, he forced a grin on his face as he returned his attention to his companion. "If you wouldn't mind? Maybe sparring with a bladed weapon I once wielded with help me recover more of my memories." he stated.
Tossing his daggers over so they pinned to the wall by the weapons locker, Axl summoned his pistols. He took a deep breath and exhaled it slowly when he felt the familiar, comforting weight of his Axl Bullets. Shifting through the memories he had unlocked, the black reploid held the twins together and a white light engulfed them, forming a white orb before it spread out, taking the shape of a double scythe.

| Zero was rather surprised at the new weapon, but it looked like it would be fun to spar against Axl with the new weapon. He tossed his daggers onto the wall next to Axl's and pulled his sword. He took a ready stance and gave a slight nod to let the prototype know that he was ready to being their spar session. He hadn't fought with his sword in a while. He needed the practice anyway.
Zero's stance was completely different now that he was using his old sword. His feet were set a little wider apart and he tended to keep both hands on the saber. It allowed for more control of the weapon, and more powerful attacks. While daggers were better for stealth and quick movements, the sword was more of an all out attack weapon. At least that's how Zero saw it. There was no need to be as cautious with the saber.

| The black reploid twirled his new weapon a few times to get the feel of it. It wasn't as comfortable as his pistols, but there was something about the scythe that made him smile nonetheless, though he couldn't remember what. Looking up at his sparring partner, he grinned at the stance.
"I remember that form. That's the stance that you usually started with when you and X trained together." he stated. "Guess I get to experience it now."
Balancing the scythe in his right hand behind his back, Axl went into a low crouch, legs spread apart in a runner's start while bracing himself with his left hand. He dashed at Zero with a small grin as he went for an upwards strike, now holding the scythe with both hands.

| Zero parried the strike causing energy to spark around them from the impact. Whenever he parried physical strikes he always caused the wielder to be thrown backwards and slightly off balance from the impact. He aimed to jam the butt of his sword into Axl's stomach and force the red head to double over in pain. It was harder for him to spar when using his sword because he tended to want to strike with the intent to damage.
He liked the challenge however. It was always good practice to learn how to control himself. To an extent at least. If the attack with his sword hit he planned to uppercut Axl hard enough to force the prototype away from him. He enjoyed mixing sword attacks with hand to hand combat. It was quite effective when training since he couldn't attack to destroy.

| The sparks throw Axl off a bit, enough to let the jab connect with his stomach. But instead of doubling over, the copy reploid slid back at the impact, which allowed him to barely dodge the uppercut thrown at him. He back flipped and landed in a crouch, rubbing his stomach with his left hand with a chuckle.
"A heavy hitter versus a stealth user. Kinda interesting odds, don't you think?" he smirked, getting into a defense position.

| "It'll definitely be an interest fight." Zero said with a bit of a grin. He hadn't fought a stealth reploid in a while so it would be great practice for him. He didn't return to his fighting stance, instead opting to stay in a normal standing position with his sword at his side. His guard was still high, however his 'stance' allowed for him to react in whatever way he needed since he'd learned how to. It was always a good way to stand for him to gauge an enemy. He didn't want to attack and then be easily deflected.
