"Yeah I'm fine. It's just easier to stand than fluxuate my weight to float." Zero said while looking down at Axl. The prototype had a whole lot of forms. He never would've guessed that Axl would've had that many forms. He crouched down and dug into the sand before pulling out a large rounded shell. "Hey Axl can you turn into a hermit crab?" He asked while putting the shell next to the crab on his boot.

X giggled again at how many different forms Axl was changing into. It seemed he was either eager to test them out or just didn't know which to use. He half-wondered if, since he was a newer-generation Reploid than X or Zero, he actually HAD to take on animal forms in water, since he'd really never done an underwater mission.

"I would suggest we try them, but some might not be water animals." Zero said not wanting to end up drowning Axl. He didn't really know if the prototype could breathe underwater, but he had a feeling if he could that didn't matter if he changed into something else that couldn't.

X was visibly surprised at how many new forms Axl had that weren't tested. "A-are they all from the assimilation your systems went through when you woke up?" he asked, flicking his tail in surprise. "By the way, can you breathe underwater in your normal form?"

The crab clicked his pincers. "According to Iris, some of the lower numbers, between the 200s to 500s, where reploids that turned Maverick during the first few Maverick Wars. And you also have to remember that there are a lot of different animal species, not to mention that I have mythical creatures mixed in."

Crawling off Zero and a few feet away, Axl returned to his normal form. The shirt he was wearing tried floating up and his pants became baggy. "Oh come on." He grumbled as he pushed his shirt back down, though his mouth never moved as the words were spoken.

Zero tilted his head slightly to the side but didn't say anything. He noticed that Axl didn't actually move his mouth to speak. That was a bit strange to him, but he didn't question it. He didn't know a whole lot about Axl's systems anyway. They were quite different from his own.

Well, that answered those questions. Seemed like Axl could breathe underwater, but speaking seemed to be a bit different. X swam in a small circle around his friends. He was quickly getting used to his new tail, and he noticed that when he swam, the fins moved like ribbons.

Getting fed up with the shirt, Axl started removing the irritating piece of clothing, though it proved more difficult than he thought with the water weighing it down. "Maybe I should have gone to shore before I turned back. Being in just my boxers would have been better than this."

Zero ended up chuckling. Thankfully since he had to control his weight somewhat manually he didn't really have to worry about his clothes doing that too much. Especially since he could just stand on the bottom. He purged his systems again and looked up at X, noticing the smaller fins on his sides moved somewhat strangely. At least it was a little strange to him.

Zero fluctuated his weight again so that he would be able to float in the water and actually swim again. He swam over to X and looked at the fins before ultimately poking one. It faltered slightly before getting back in rhythm with the others.

Zero silently followed the other two into the cave and glanced around. It got darker the further they went into it. The blond had night vision of sorts and would be fine, but he didn't know about the other two. Maybe that ability was still locked out for Axl, and he wasn't sure about X in the slightest.

X couldn't really see well in the dark tunnel, so he wasn't sure exactly where he was going. His tail kept brushing into the walls, informing him that it was a very small tunnel. The only thing that would screw him over would be if he somehow changed back to normal in the tunnel; it was very deep.

As a fish, Axl had trouble seeing in the dark, but luckily he had a fish that could semi-light the way. A white light filled the dark cave as he morphed into a anglerfish. He didn't really like this form, but it allowed him to somewhat see where he was going since his night vision wasn't unlocked yet.

X wound up covering his eyes for a second when Axl turned into an anglerfish. After being in the dark for so long it hurt his eyes. He recovered after a moment and continued swimming through the tunnel. Unfortunately for him, the pressure building as they swam deeper into the tunnel was starting to hurt his head.

"W-wait..." he stated weakly, grabbing onto one of the rocks in the tunnel to keep himself steady and pressing his free hand to his forehead.

X had to close his eyes from time to time to focus on something other than the pressure on his head, but otherwise he was doing moderately okay. The tunnel opened up about ten feet ahead, leading to a very large, completely flooded cavern. The cavern seemed to sit under the seabed.

X seemed to be zoning out a bit from the pressure on his head. It hurt and was disorienting him greatly, to the point where he barely even noticed the cavern they'd found. He was starting to get his senses back after a few moments, though, and took a moment to look around with the limited light that Axl's anglerfish lure gave off.

He didn't become aware of the twinges of pain in his abdomen and tail until he tried to move again. It was more of a discomfort than anything.

Zero swam up to the top of the cavern with X before examining the 'ceiling'. "Do you think I could dig to the surface?" He questioned. If he could it would definitely let more light in and it would give a quick escape if they needed one.

The pressure was lessened at the cavern's ceiling, so he could focus a little better, but that twinge of pain was starting to get worse. X opened his mouth to speak, but before he could, his whole tail started to glow very brightly, obscuring it from view. The brunette wrapped his arms around his stomach; he was in a whole mess of pain, and he quickly figured out why. Not now...not now...!!

"Z-Zero...! G-get us out of here...!" he managed to state before the light dimmed, revealing that his tail was gone and he was back to normal.

And unable to breathe.

Axl nearly went into a panic when X turned to normal. He looked around the cavern frantically and noticed it was plenty big enough for one of his half-baked plans. Quickly turning into a whale, he 'ate' the other two reploids and released the excess water through his spout, hoping it would help.

Zero grimaced not liking what was happening in the slightest. When the water was drained out he purged his systems and released some oxygen along with the excess salt. Hopefully it would be enough to keep X breathing. If not he could always produce more at the cost of his energy.

X nearly blacked out from lack of oxygen before all the water was totally drained, and wound up coughing up quite a bit of water that he'd inhaled right as he changed back to normal. It was difficult to breathe, as there wasn't much oxygen that he COULD breathe, but a much bigger dilemma had crossed his mind.

Axl couldn't get out of the area himself, meaning they were trapped.

The half-baked plan was just that: half-baked. While Axl did buy some time, it was very limited. If only he had some kind of reploid that could tunnel though the sand and up to the surface. Wait a minute...

Zero used about a fourth of his energy to create more oxygen so that X could at least breathe normally for a few minutes. He went over the list in his head. He hand to think of a Maverick that could swim and break through the sand. "Um.. maybe Crush Crawfish or Bubble Crab. Unless X has a better suggestion." He said before looking over at the cyber elf to make sure he was okay.

X was still too light-headed to really respond when Zero mentioned his name, and could only nod in agreement to...whatever he'd said. His stomach was flipping, his chest ached, and his head felt like it was in the clouds. The brunette wound up slumping against Zero, his breathing somewhat labored. Even if they did manage to get out of the cavern, no doubt they were very VERY far below the surface, and sitting in a whale's mouth wasn't exactly a good alternative to scuba gear.
