Iris blinked. She noted X's apparent chill, and went off to find something warm. She came back with a thick, comfy blanket and wrapped it around her friend. "What are they doing at beach? Are they sparring or something?"

In all honesty, X didn't think there WAS anything that could be done. Iris couldn't fight the virus, and she'd never even seen the Absolute armor before. He could only hope for the best...

Iris nodded. After telling X to go rest, she ran off to the storage room.

After a while, she found the Ride Armor. She had used a Ride Armor before, so she wouldn't have much trouble.

Hopping in, she was able to activate the machine without much trouble. Luckily it still had some old data. Putting in Zero's, she was able to pinpoint his location-- Although she was surprised at the results.

Shrugging it off, she was able to find an exit large enough for the Ride Armor. As soon she was outside, she jetted off to Zero's location.

Good thing this machine had head covering.

Something was responding to the virus' aura, but Axl couldn't tell if it was good or bad. The gem on his helmet started glowing a light purple color, trying to draw in the aura, but his wings sprang back to life from their limp position behind him. The edges became sharper and his left wing tried to stab into Zero's forearm.

As Iris flew across the water, closer towards Zero's location, she was shocked by what she saw.

Zero was in strange looking armor, and was holding Axl by the throat.

She then noticed the purple aura, and realized that this was the virus, not the real Zero.

She was in a dilemma; She wanted to get Axl out of there, but at the same time she didn't want him to get hurt.

What to do, what to do....?

The virus became interested in whatever was currently approaching him. That allowed Axl to stab him, but he didn't respond other than by wincing slightly. Was that.. ride armor? He hadn't seen that in a while. He wondered who was in it. The aura had stopped moving towards Axl as the blond was somewhat distracted.

Iris noted the aura had stopped, and was relieved, but she had to find a way to get Axl out of the virus' grasp...
Looks like she had no choice but to attack the virus.

After analyzing the situation, she activated the missiles hidden in the 'arms' of the Ride Armor, and shot them towards the virus, hoping at least one would hit.

Axl was left dangling in the virus' grasp as he tried to dislodge his stuck wing. His head was pounding and the gem was dimming back to its original blue as the aura ceased its advances. The virus' grip on his throat was making it extremely difficult for the fluids there to pass and he was making choking noises. If he wasn't carefully, he would pass out or completely shut down.

Iris smacked the heel of her palm on her forehead when she noticed the wings; The virus could just fly up to dodge the missiles.

She heard Axl's choking, and that was that.

Flying at surprising speed, she used one of the ride armor's 'arms' to punch virus Zero, being veeeeery careful not to hurt Axl.

Virus Zero grimaced and took to the air to avoid the missiles. When Iris started to fly towards him he dove back down into the water, the redhead still in his grasp. Small threads of ice were starting to form around him the second he went underwater, but he ignored it for the time being. He needed to know where the shard was. Turning his attention back to Axl, he quickly infected the prototype and tried to sort through his memory data before the ride armor was on him again.

Iris pounded the control panel in frustration. Unless made for it, Ride Armors were useless in water; They'd sink like a rock. Plus, Iris didn't bring any weap--

Hang on.

Apparently, she had opened a compartment when she had hit the control panel. Grabbing whatever was inside, she found a handgun. She no idea how to use it, but sometimes it was more dangerous with someone inexperienced.

Not even bothering to see if it was loaded, Iris landed the Ride Armor on the patch of ice, opened the door of the Ride Armor and peeked out. There wasn't enough ice to stand on, so she would have to swim.

Preparing herself, she dived in.

As soon as she spotted the virus, she aimed for his shoulder and fired.

Axl felt a wordless scream leave him as his head felt like it was splitting apart. His right wing shot out and tried to stab Zero in the shoulder or side as his defenses flared up. Not all of them were up and running, but what defenses he did have were pushing every anti-hack he had to the limit.

He couldn't know. Couldn't know where the shard was put.

It had been in the lab, then in the med bay, but he had moved it again a week ago to his room for a while. Then he moved it to...

No! Stop!! He couldn't know!!!

The virus growled deep in his chest from the two attacks that had landed on each of his shoulders. However, he wasn't going to give up that easily. "Tell me prototype!" He ordered his voice sounding like it was actually inside Axl's head. He ignored Iris, which might have been a mistake, but he would find that out soon enough. He increased the amount of the virus that infected Axl, but it was still low enough to prevent him from shutting down completely. After all, he didn't want to kill the brat. At least not yet.

Turned out ignoring Iris was a rather fatal mistake. One shot went straight through his CPU while another implanted itself into his core. The other just went through his armor not doing any damage. The virus' eyes widened and he let go of Axl. He was.. tired. He forced all his energy into his wings and flew up above the water towards the base. He made it about halfway before his energy was gone.

He would shut down soon, and if that happened both he and Zero would be gone.

Dark X flew around the base in search of his nii-sama. Where did he go? Did he wander off again? No...he saw him just a little while ago. He was working on something and Dark X fell asleep.

The little elf flew outside, wondering where his nii-sama went, pausing when he sensed nii-sama nearby. He giggled and flew toward his nii-sama...only to find that the blonde was on the ground unconscious. "N-Nii-sama?!!" He flew down to him and transformed into his adult form, shaking him by his shoulders.

Axl remembered that voice. It taunted him when he was in hibernation. But who or what was it?

The redhead felt his body seize as his armor went completely white and his eyes warped to a gold-trimmed red. A menacing grin formed as his hair turned lilac. Ignoring what he'd been asked to do, Dark X picked up his nii-sama and carried him over his shoulder back to the base. He set him in a recovery pod to rest and regain his strength, then set to work carefully extracting what looked like a bullet from his chest.

Dark X examined the monitor carefully. A data backup would make a copy of all of nii-sama's data, so in the event something severely damaged him, his data would be unharmed.

But...what if it didn't work?

The elf started the backup, and while it worked, used some of his energy to repair his nii-sama's systems. Hopefully it would be enough...

Iris started panicking. 'Axl' was catching up, and while the base coming in her sights, it was still a ways away, and the energy in her jets was depleting fast.

She looked her handgun; Two bullets left. She'd have to use them carefully.

Aiming carefully, Iris attempted to shoot Axl where one of his wings attached to his body. After she fired, she put more "oomph" into her jets.

The new entity felt a flash of panic as he rolled out of the way of the shot and went careening into the water again. The shot had singed the edge of his wings, but thankfully didn't do serious damage. He growled, "Girl still has some fight left. Better stay back. She may not be a good shot, but I still need to be careful. Don't want too much fun to happen before we get back to base."

With that, he took off at a slower pace. keeping Iris in sight, but keeping his distance.

Iris gave a huff when Axl dodged the bullet; She'd have to save the last one for later.

After a few minutes she arrived at the base. Running inside as fast as her legs could carry her, she slammed the door and locked it, backing away from it before going into another room.

She leaned against a wall and slid down, huddling into herself.

What could she do now? X was probably still freezing, Zero was horribly damaged, and Axl... wasn't Axl anymore. She had no idea where Red and Lumine were...

I'm... alone, aren't I?

With that thought in mind, plus her feeling of guilt, Iris started crying.

Axl scoffed as he approached the base. More than likely Iris had sealed the entrances, so he couldn't get to his target. But maybe...

Glancing up, he grinned and flew around the building to the spot roughly outside the bedroom level, watching and waiting through the windows. 'Where oh where could our dear father be?' he thought.

The pods humming became louder as sparks suddenly flew out of it, some hitting Dark X. It seemed it was trying to take things into its own hands. Either that or it was made to repair anything.
