| Zero stalked over to X and grinned. "I guess you weren't meant to be the hero." He stated before putting his buster against X's head. His grin tapered off to a smirk. "Good thing you get another chance."
A faint click forced X awake. It almost sounded like an empty gun going off.

| X's eyes twitched slightly before opening at the sound. He couldn't get his vision to focus. What was going on? And why did his chest hurt?
A few faint voices seemed to echo around him.
"Hurry, get him to the infirmary!!"
"His core is damaged, he won't last much longer!!"
"How did this happen to him?!"
((I blame the shounen-ai RP for this little idea. It was early on when X wound up in a coma if you need a reference. Unless you had another idea at which point I'll change this.))

"We'll have to replace it." Zero stated while helping the medics. "Get some more energy canisters." He was barking out orders left and right not even noticing that the blue reploid had woken up. He was working rather quickly and looked stressed to the max.

| ((It was the part in the shounen-ai one where Zero's core blew.))
X's vision finally started to clear up a bit, and he noticed a rather bright overhead light, like ones used in operating rooms. His breathing was irregular and somewhat shallow, and his entire body felt like it was on fire. What happened to him? And why was everyone so panicked?

Zero worked on creating a new and fully functioning core while keeping his eyes on the amount of energy that was in the canister that was hooked up to X. They had wasted about ten so far, but they had a stockpile of twenty and growing. Hopefully it wouldn't take too much longer. The blond ordered for different parts at different times finding a use for all the people in the room.

| It took X a few more moments to figure out what had happened to him. At some point--he had no idea when exactly, as things seemed so vividly real it was ridiculous--his core had blown out and his energy levels were dropping faster than they could be restored. It was a struggle just to stay awake now, and his eyes kept slipping closed every few moments.
Eventually X's energy hit rock-bottom. His eyes slipped shut and he went completely limp.
((When do you think his core should have blown? Probably back during the Vile incident?))

| Seeing X's condition worsen caused the blond to work faster. Only a few minutes later Zero had completely replaced X's core with the brand new one. It was based directly off of X's schematics so it should work perfectly with X's systems. The parts were the same, everything was the same. Now all he could do was wait and see if the new core actually started to charge from the new energy canister.

| Even with the new core in place and everything, X wasn't recovering. His energy had fully depleted itself, and his new core, though it integrated itself, just couldn't hold any energy. Whatever energy went into the core was sent straight into his systems, which burned through it like it was nothing.
In short he was gone. Whatever had happened to him, he was dead.
((NOT.))

| Zero slammed his fist onto the table and clenched his teeth. "Damnit!" He growled before looking around to try and figure out how to help X. He was so stressed and tired his mind was coming up blank. Other than shocking X's entire systems with energy pulled from the base.

One of the nearby medics, the one who had been bringing in energy canisters, noticed that X's systems were overworking themselves and burning off all his energy. She decided to try something. It was kind of a desperate action and if it failed it might blow out X's new core, but she hooked up three energy canisters to the blue Reploid and set them to purge ALL of the energy into his systems.

| The surge of energy hit X's systems like a freight train, causing his core pulses to go completely erratic. At first it seemed like the medic had completely screwed up and overloaded his systems, but after a few moments, his core regulated itself. The energy was being managed more efficiently now, and his systems were gradually coming back online.

| Zero was relieved when he saw X wake up, however, his relief made him realize just how exhausted he was. He stumbled back against the counter that was behind him and had to use it to keep himself standing. His energy levels were low, and the stress had damaged his internal systems.

| One of the medics hurried over to Zero and hooked him up to another recharge pod so he could rest and recover, while another stayed near X and told him to just rest. All the while X was completely confused as to what the hell happened.

| Zero refused the help and pulled away from the medic before she could force him into the recharge pod. He merely hooked himself up to one of the canisters and went back over to where X was. "Are you okay?" He asked wondering if everything had worked out right.

| "Alright..." X closed his eyes again. His whole body still ached terribly and he felt overheated. He just wanted to sleep. Before he did, though, he accessed his memory files. He didn't want to live in fear of Zero, so he deleted the memories of that dream he had, so everything from whenever his core blew up until he regained consciousness was now just a blank. It helped him figure out what had happened, however. When the door slammed shut and Vile trapped him in the room with the ride armor, he wasn't able to get out. Although he'd escaped the main blast, the shockwave of energy caused his core to overload just before Zero got into the room.

| Zero went over to one of the recovery pods that was in the room and made sure to give himself enough time to properly rest. He was running on fumes practically. If he were human he would've run himself into the ground with how often he worked with little to no 'sleep'.

| By the time X woke back up he had completely forgotten why he was so afraid when he regained consciousness earlier, but after a few minutes he recalled why--he nearly died and everyone was in a panic trying to help him. He sat up slowly so as not to agitate whatever was damaged and glanced around. Everyone was actually working diligently for once, which rather shocked him.

| Zero was still asleep in the nearby pod, which had no covering. One of his arms was draped over his stomach with his head tilted to one side. He actually looked peaceful for once, which many of the other workers commented on since they'd never seen Zero so relaxed. Or even sleep for that matter.

| X stood shakily and pulled a chair over to the recovery pod, that way when Zero woke up he'd know that X was okay. The blue Reploid was still tired though, so he rested his arms on the side of the pod and rested his head on them, falling back asleep.

| Zero stirred slightly when X moved over to the recovery pod, but didn't actually wake up. His systems wouldn't allow him to wake up until he was at least 75% charged since his reserves were depleted. After about an hour and a half Zero started to wake up again. He looked around and rubbed one of his eyes with the heel of his palm.
When he spotted X he wondered when the blue reploid had moved to sleep like that. At least he was okay though. He rubbed his head and checked his energy reserves to make sure everything was okay.

| X woke up after a few hours and sat up with a yawn, stretching. He felt much better than he did before and decided to go find Zero. To his surprise the others at the base were actually working and cooperating, and a few even greeted him.

| Zero was helping some of the medics replace a broken recovery pod. It was rather heavy, but he was somehow managing to hold it up on his own. They cleared out the old pod before Zero placed the new one in it's place before laying down next to it to hook up all the connections properly.

| Zero glanced out from under the pod and smiled. "Hey, X. Feeling better?" He asked before returning to his work and quickly finishing hooking up the pod. He stood back up and set the new machinery to run through preliminary tests to make sure it was okay.

| "You slept for about three hours." Zero commented while messing with the controls on the recovery pod. It seemed to be working right, but there was no reason to take chances. "I'm glad you're better though." He stated looking over at X with a smile. He had definitely been worried that X wasn't going to make it. Someone's core blowing out was about as bad as a human losing their heart.

| X smiled softly again. "Either way...thank you," he stated in a somewhat shy tone. That solidified one fact. Zero actually sounded worried about X's wellbeing, not just as a fellow Hunter and ally, but as a friend. Zero was the one person X could call a true friend.
I wish I could avoid violence...but if I did, this world wouldn't be able to live in peace. So I will fight for this world, to protect humans and Reploids alike.

| Zero was a little confused by X's sudden shy tone, but he didn't say anything about it. "Well I can't have the one tolerable person in this base get too damaged, now can I?" He stated. It was his own indirect way of saying that X was his, probably only, friend. He wasn't good expressing his emotions, but that was as best as he could get.

| X looked up at Zero for a moment when he said that, then smiled brightly. "Do you wanna go to the cafe when you're done?" he asked. "On me. I've been saving up since we first started hanging out."

| Zero smiled and nodded. "Sure. I just have one more pod to replace and then we can go." He said before going over to the other pod that needed to be replaced and working on it on his own. It was rather hard to move each piece of equipment on his own, but he somehow managed.

| Zero allowed X to help, although to a lesser extent. X helped him move the two pods out of the way before he set the new one up. Once that was finished, he transferred the two broken ones to the scrap room before stretching. "You still feel up to going?" He asked looking over at X.

| X leaned against one of the functioning pods to rest his legs, which nearly gave out from moving the heavy machinery, then nodded. "Like I said, it's on me," he repeated. "Then we can go rest at the park for a little while if you want."
