| Zero was pretty much out of places to take X to kill time. "I suppose we could just walk around and if you see anything you'd like to do we can do that." He suggested. He didn't really visit any other places, and they'd just eaten so he was out of ideas. He'd forgotten that X didn't really go out much so he wasn't really familiar with the city.

| "That sounds like a good idea," commented X as he followed Zero outside. The sky was starting to turn a little orangish, signalling that it was already the evening. It was surprising how long they'd stayed at the cafe, but then again, he was having fun, so time was flying quickly.
I wish I could avoid violence...but if I did, this world wouldn't be able to live in peace. So I will fight for this world, to protect humans and Reploids alike.

| Zero linked his fingers together and stretched his arms above his head. They walked around the square of the city and saw quite a few shops and stands. One of the shops was a parts shop that seemed to have some interesting upgrades and hard to find parts in it. Zero was somewhat interested in checking out the shop, but he didn't bother mentioning it.

| X noticed the subtle change in Zero's expression when they passed a parts shop, and quietly walked over to it, examining some of the parts. One of them--a buster upgrade--looked like it was compatible with Zero's systems, and didn't cost too much, so he bought it. The blue Reploid walked over to Zero and held out the box with the upgrade to him.
"Thanks for such a fun day," he said, though he seemed somewhat meek. The upgrade was something of a gift to the blonde.
I wish I could avoid violence...but if I did, this world wouldn't be able to live in peace. So I will fight for this world, to protect humans and Reploids alike.

| Zero was a little surprised when X handed him the box. He had been busy looking at a stand that had small old machines. He'd never seen some of them before so he'd been somewhat engrossed in looking at them and didn't even notice that the blue reploid had gone somewhere else. He took the box and looked inside. Upon noticing it was an upgrade he smiled sincerely at X. "Thank you." He said before taking out the buster upgrade. A quick glance was all he needed to know that it was compatible and he easily placed it where it was supposed to go. A message popped up telling him a little about the upgrade itself, but he ignored it for the most part. He could just read it later.

| X smiled shyly with his hands clasped behind his back, bouncing from his heels to his toes and back. "I hope you like it," he said, still a little meek. He was even blushing shyly. "I mean, it's the least I could do for all you did for me yesterday. Two upgrades and helping me get promoted...I couldn't even begin to thank you enough."
X kind of hoped Zero didn't think he was trying to be a suck-up. After all, this was not only a thank-you gift for everything the blonde had done for him, which was what he was saying, but also a thank-you for being his friend.

| Zero had to keep himself from laughing slightly. X was being rather.. cute. Mostly because of what he was doing. He managed not to show signs of his amusement. "I definitely do like it." He said still smiling. He'd never really received anything from anyone. He had always had to take care of himself, and sometimes others, while getting no form of thanks in return. It was kind of strange for him to have a friend, but he liked the idea of having one. He somewhat felt obligated to give X something in return, but then again the gift was a thank you for all he'd done so far. He was over thinking things too much.

| X smiled a little brighter before a small beep caught his attention. A message popped up in his peripheral vision; he and Zero were needed back at Hunter Base for a briefing on a Maverick attack. It was directly from Commander Sigma, and basically said that they were the only two capable of getting the job done.

| Zero sighed when the message popped up. "We're pretty close so we can run back quickly." He said not wanting to have to deal with the navigators. "Let's go." He half ordered before starting to sprint back to Hunter base. It took them about three minutes to get back to the base and up to the command room. Zero was still breathing at a normal rate, as if he hadn't even been running in the first place. "What are we dealing with?" He asked going over to Sigma, but keeping a bit of distance between them as well.

| X was a bit winded after the two Reploids arrived at the base, since his systems weren't used to all the activity. The blue Reploid took a moment to recover before turning his attention to the display on the monitor and listening to the debriefing. Apparently another very powerful Maverick--an S-Ranked Maverick known as "CF-0", resembling a red barrel/tank with legs. The mission was to destroy it before it could reach Abel City--and despite the behemoth's lack of speed, it was closing in rather quickly.
I wish I could avoid violence...but if I did, this world wouldn't be able to live in peace. So I will fight for this world, to protect humans and Reploids alike.

| "Transfer us in front of it." Zero ordered the navigators before turning his attention to X. "Are you ready?" He asked making sure that the blue reploid really was ready to go after the Maverick before they were there. He knew the navigators weren't stupid enough to transfer them before X said that he was. They were going after a high ranked enemy after all. There was no reason to transfer them if they weren't ready.

| X flexed his hand a few times, then morphed his arm back into its Buster mode. "Yeah," he said with a nod. "The faster we get rid of this thing, the better."
The navigators activated the transfer device, and in the blink of an eye, X and Zero were...well, directly in front of the Mechaniloid and about to get stepped on.
"Holy--!!" X quickly pushed Zero out of the way when the Mechaniloid's foot started to come down.

| Zero grabbed X's arm, causing the blue reploid to get pulled along with him and out of danger of being stepped on. He grumbled something under his breath about the navigators trying to kill him and change his arm into a buster. He fired off a few shots at the large Maverick, mostly to just get his attention. "Any weak spots?" He asked X noticing that the commander had forgotten to mention if there were any or not. And it wasn't like the navigators were going to help him anyway.

| X charged a shot with his Buster and fired it toward the Mechaniloid's face. "Nothing particularly stands out," he replied. Basic training taught him that when in doubt, go for the head.
The Mechaniloid didn't seem to notice, and jumped into the air. How such a lumbering thing could leap so high baffled X.
Then it started coming down toward the two Hunters.

| Zero dashed out of the way and fired a charged shot at the Maverick's leg where it's knee joint should be. He hoped that X would be able to get out of the way as he'd reacted without thinking about the blue reploid. He was used to fighting on his own. He rather hoped that this wasn't the only way it would attack them. It would be somewhat hard to get a shot in if it was.

| X narrowly managed to avoid being stomped on, though the shockwave of the impact was so tremendous it caused him to fall over. He started firing rapid shots at the knee joint, hoping it was the weak spot.

| Zero alternated between firing rapid shots and charged shots, continuing to try and hit the knee joint. After a while they were successful. The large Maverick collapsed onto the ground, holding itself up on it's good leg. They seemed to be having the most success with shooting at the joints.

| X almost grinned at their success at crippling the Mechaniloid, and was about to open fire on its other knee when a sharp pain shot through him; when the Maverick collapsed onto its knee, it pinned him down with almost all its weight, crushing him. The blue Reploid charged another shot and fired it again at the knee joint, noting that its power was now different--the regulator upgrade Zero gave him had been knocked loose, and he was drawing energy directly from his core and his reserves again.

| Zero dashed over to where X was while firing off shots at the Maverick's head as he did so. It seemed to be having an effect again. It was easy for him to see the difference in X's shots. "Stop shooting X." He ordered knowing that if the blue reploid kept that up he'd end up shutting down. He charged up a shot and fired it at the Maverick's leg where X was pinned. It blasted a hole into the 'armor' at such a close range and he managed to pull X away from the large mechaniloid.

| X obeyed the order and changed his arm back to normal. He knew the danger of continuing to fight with the regulator disconnected; he'd have to reconnect it before he could do anything. After being pulled away from the Mechaniloid, X dragged himself away for a moment to work on the repair, which took less than a minute, then started unloading as many shots into the hulking Maverick as he could.

| Zero had an idea. If a close shot had done that to the Maverick's leg, then what would it do to his head? He'd find out one way or another. He used the boosters in his feet to jump up and scale the mechaniloid. He charged his buster all the way to the top. He landed on it's shoulders and fired off a shot point blank. A large explosion threw him off and he landed on the ground on his back before skidding over to where X had been. He groaned and sat up rubbing his head, but the Maverick collapsed onto the ground.

| X provided a bit of support fire as Zero scaled the hulking Mechaniloid, keeping its attention on the blue Reploid while Zero approached its head. After Zero landed and the Maverick toppled over, X turned his attention to Zero. "You okay?" he asked.

| "I'm good." Zero said before standing up and brushing himself off. He changed his buster back into his hand and looked over at the mess. "At least we didn't cause too much damage." He said noting that the only real damage was caused from the large mechaniloid landing back on the concrete causing it to break and come up in places.

| Zero wrapped one of his arms around X's waist to help him stay up right and laughed a bit. "Well it was better than most of my other days off." He commented before ordering the navigators to transfer them back to the base. It seemed he'd be having to look over X to make sure the blue reploid wasn't damaged too badly. He'd have to fix up the upgrades to ensure that they would actually stay in place. It was too risky having that happen, especially since X didn't really know how to pull energy effectively on his own.

| X laughed a bit as well, almost falling when they were transported back to the base. He looked up at Zero for a moment. "...Sorry I keep getting damaged like this," he apologized, realizing that every time he got injured, Zero had to take care of him since nobody else was considerate enough to help.

| Zero managed to keep X upright and walked to the medical bay at a pace that would be okay for the blue reploid since he was damaged rather badly. He shook his head. "It's no problem." He said before leading X over to a workbench. He hooked up a holo screen and ran a scan on X's systems to see exactly what was damaged. He made a mental note to fix the upgrade afterwards.

| X leaned back a bit so his back was against the wall, keeping him upright. The blue Reploid's systems were damaged quite a bit, though it wasn't as bad as when he was crushed by the Crabs-Y since he could still walk. At most his "nervous system" was in disarray and his energy regulator was now sitting somewhere in his abdomen, instead of in his chest where it belonged. It had come loose after they defeated the Maverick, the shockwave from it crashing to the ground knocking the upgrade loose again.

| "I'm going to disable your nervous system for a few minutes so that I can reset where your regulator should be." Zero said finding it best to give X fair warning before actually doing it. After a moment he shut down the blue reploids nervous system and pulled off X's chest armor and fixed the positioning of his regulator before making sure it was secure. He replaced the chest armor and sent a shock through X's systems to power back on his nervous system. "Better?" He asked after the screen said everything was good. Other than the upgrades anyway.

| X nodded and braced himself for the system's shutdown. Once it was shut down, a twinge of panic shot through him, as his body was now totally numb and he couldn't even tell that Zero was working on repairing him unless he actually looked. He did feel the shock, however, which tingled when his nervous system came back online. He still hurt, but things felt like they were back in the right places. "Yeah," he replied.

He commented while continuing to tinker with the upgrades. They were just barely too small, which made them jar out of place with enough impact. He could fix that easily enough however.

| "You had to shut your nervous system off too?" asked X, eyes wide with surprise. "That must have been tough since you have to repair yourself."
While Zero was working on modifying the upgrades, a medic Reploid--the one who tried to hand him those papers, how ironic--walked past and bumped into him, causing him to drop and damage the upgrade. "Oops," she said in a falsely-sweet tone before continuing to walk off.

| "Yeah. That's how I've become rather skilled at repairing anyone." Zero said before picking up the upgrade off the ground. As he did so he was sure to extend his foot just a little too far out. The medic reploid ended up faceplanting onto the hard metallic floor. Zero stood up and turned around managing to look completely confused. "Oh, I'm so sorry. Maybe you should watch where you're going." He started out sounding sincere, but it quickly reverted back to his usual no nonsense tone. He turned back to the workbench to continue working on the upgrade.

| The medic Reploid growled as she stood back up. She'd get him for humiliating her in front of all the Hunters.
X had to stifle a small giggle when Zero tripped the medic. "Sounds like she doesn't like you too much," he commented. "Is she maybe jealous that Commander Sigma gave us a day off?"

| "Really? I never noticed until recently," commented X. "I'm guessing she doesn't like me too much either, since you're willing to help me out. Or is she like that to all Hunters who aren't A-Class or S-Class?" He did remember that the medic was scorning him when he got injured.
The medic Reploid came back. "Oh dear, you're injured!" she exclaimed, noting a burn on Zero's back from when he went sliding across the ground. "I'll take care of that." And by "take care", she applied something like a salve to the burn which caused Zero to go numb.

| "No I'm fairly certain its mostly just me." Zero grumbled after the salve took effect. Although he was numb, he'd had quite enough practice with repairing himself with his nervous system down to not make a fool out of himself. He finished fixing up the other upgrade rather quickly even though he couldn't feel anything and turned around to face the medic reploid with a smile. If that didn't scare her, then nothing probably would. "Why thank you." He said the smile not disappearing from his face. "Here, let me put that up for you." He offered before taking the container. He acted like he tripped and caused the remaining amount of the salve to get all over the medic reploid. "I'm sorry, I think you got the wrong thing. It's hard to tell where I'm walking when I can't feel anything." He managed to say all of that sincerely and with the same smile on his face. The scary part was, the smile didn't even look forced.

| The medic Reploid's eye twitched slightly when the salve got on her. She was definitely scared, since Zero NEVER smiled like that, but she was now effectively paralyzed.
Even X was shivering slightly. The smile looked genuine, but seeing Zero smile like that was, in a word, creepy.
I wish I could avoid violence...but if I did, this world wouldn't be able to live in peace. So I will fight for this world, to protect humans and Reploids alike.

| Zero's smiled quickly vanished returning back to it's usual scowl when dealing with the other Hunters. "Are you done?" He asked his voice somewhat threatening. It was obvious he wouldn't let the medic reploid win, but he was close to having enough of this. He would probably be numb for maybe an hour since she applied quite a bit. However she would be paralyzed for a few hours at the least.

| "Y-y-y-yes sir..." stammered the medic. She tried to salute, but being unable to feel anything she smacked herself in the face. Turning to walk away resulted in her tripping over her own feet.
Once the medic successfully got out of the room, X laughed at her misfortune. Zero won yet again. His laughter tapered off. "You alright?" he asked.

| Zero grabbed the medic by her shoulder before she was able to actually walk off. Although he was cold, he wasn't malicious. He grabbed another container and dumped it on the medic which reversed the paralysis. It only took a few seconds for it to kick in, but after she was obviously fine he turned back to X. "Yeah, I'm fine. Nothing I'm not used to." He admitted before flexing his hand while looking at it. Nothing. Oh well, he'd used all the 'medicine' on the medic.

| The medic wound up looking back at Zero before leaving. X pushed himself off the workbench, relieved to find that he was able to walk with minor trouble--namely that his insides still felt like they were shifting a bit--and walked over to Zero, examining the canister he was still holding. He found another canister that had the same label and applied some of the contents to the red Reploid's back, where he was damaged, hoping it would work. "Better?" he asked.
I wish I could avoid violence...but if I did, this world wouldn't be able to live in peace. So I will fight for this world, to protect humans and Reploids alike.

| X lightly rapped his knuckles against his chestplate to see if what Zero said was true. Sure enough, the upgrade didn't come loose. He then knocked on his gauntlet a bit to test the buster upgrade and got the same result. He was a bit relieved now; this meant there was less that Zero had to worry about.

| Zero was rather proud of his handiwork, although he should've tested it earlier to see if it had that problem. Regardless, it was fixed now. "You should go and get some rest. I'll take care of the paperwork." He stated before leaving to go get a form that he needed to fill out. It shouldn't take him too long to fill it out completely, it was just tedious.

| X stretched and walked back to his office. He left the door open a crack in case Zero decided to come in before heading to bed, pausing and staring at his desk with distaste. Apparently while he was gone, the higher-ranked Hunters decided to, once again, dump off their paperwork for him to do. This was frustrating, but he couldn't do anything other than just comply and do the work. He sat down at the desk and got to filling out the papers; the stack was huge and would take several hours.

| Zero managed to finish the paperwork no problem and he returned to his room. However he paused when he noticed X's door was still open slightly and the light still on. He knocked on the door before opening it and probably would've had a heart attack if he were human. "What the hell?" He questioned before going over to the desk and picking up some of the papers. Some of them were from equal ranked Hunters. There were a few that were from lower ranked ones as well. That was outrageous. He grimaced and picked out each and every piece of paperwork that was from an equal ranked Hunter or lower that X hadn't completed yet. Everyone was going to hate him again, but he didn't care.

| X wound up sighing when Zero looked through his paperwork. "It's fine, Zero," he stated somewhat glumly. "I'll handle it like I always do. Not like I'm not used to this stuff." He knew there was paperwork from other B-Rank Hunters, and even some C-Class and rookies, but doing all of it himself was better than dealing with a certain Reploid that chose to shoot at X when he didn't do the work others gave him. And it wasn't Commander Sigma, either.
