Nearly half of the large stack was from lower class Hunters a remaining fourth was from B-Class Hunters. Zero shook his head. "No, they need to learn how to do it themselves. If they can't handle their own paperwork by now then they shouldn't even be in the field. Dealing with a Maverick is important, but filling out a detailed report is just as important." He stated obviously annoyed. He hated it before when the other Hunters had done this, but he'd been so busy that he'd never had time to do anything about it. Why not spend the rest of his day getting yelled at and yelling in return? A certain purple reploid would probably come after him, but he wasn't scared of him. Maybe he should be, but he didn't care.

X sighed. There was no convincing Zero otherwise, although he was right. The other Hunters needed to get their act together. If they kept pushing their work on others, they wouldn't get anywhere. "Do you want me to be there too?" he asked.

"No, I'll handle it." Zero said, he didn't want to get X involved anymore than he already was. Besides, he didn't want the blue reploid to see him when he was yelling at the others. It was definitely a sight to fear. He grabbed the paper work and put it on a cart before giving it to a mail reploid. He ordered the worker to take all the paperwork back to everyone and if they had a problem with it, to come see him.

"Alright..." said X before resuming his paperwork. The pile was MUCH smaller now, thankfully, but it was still a good deal. When he finished a few pages though, he stopped, reading over one of the papers. "Z...Zero...what's this...?" he asked, indicating the papers. It was a mission report, but it was completely different from the others.

Zero went back into the room and looked it over. He couldn't get the gist of it by just skimming so he took the time to read everything fully. It probably took him about five minutes to fully read it as it was a few pages long.

"I'll look into it." Zero said before turning to leave. "If you need anything contact me over the communicator." He said before going down to the archive section of the Hunter base. He needed to check on something. Was it Vile that had gone Maverick?

X returned to his work, filling out the papers that the Hunters had left him. It didn't take quite as long as he thought, thankfully, but it was still rather tedious. After finishing, he left the stack neatly on his desk to take to the file archive in the morning, and prepared to get into his recharge pod when he heard footsteps from outside his office.

The purple armored Reploid came in the office and noticed the stack of paperwork X left behind. Vile aimed and fired a round from his Front Runner right next to X's head. "Where do you think you're going X?" Vile asked, "I still see a fair amount of paperwork here."

Zero quickly went through the archives already knowing exactly what he was looking for. After looking over the files there was no doubting it was Vile. He'd attacked innocents before, so why wouldn't he do it again. He heard shots fired from somewhere above him. Who would be shooting inside the base? Zero quickly slammed shut the drawers and ran back upstairs where his and X's rooms were.

X let out a startled yell, instinctively covering his head when the shot nearly hit him. "Th-the work is finished, sir!" he explained. "I was going to take it to the archives first thing in the morning!"

Great. As if his day could get any worse. First his day off was ruined by a Maverick attack, then he had to put up with a snobby medic with a grudge against Zero, and now Vile was here. And no doubt Vile would notice if he used his communicator to contact Zero.

Zero made it to X's room just as Vile had thrown the blue reploid into one of the walls. "Hey! Don't you have anything better to do than pick on him?" He questioned while approaching the ill tempered reploid. "Dogging on others to do their work when you barely do any yourself, what right do you have to come after X?" He asked now standing between Vile and X. The blue reploid was partially in the wall and wouldn't be able to get up quickly enough to avoid an attack.

X let out a grunt of pain when his head bounced off the wall. His arm and shoulder were now partially lodged into the metal wall, and his Buster arm was damaged a bit. He looked up, still somewhat dazed and surprised to see Zero standing over him. He really didn't know why Zero was bothering; after all, this was sort of a regular thing with Vile. He saw X taking a break and attacked him. X figured it was probably out of boredom.

"Yeah, along with a few civilians." Zero stated while smacking Vile's hand away. "I'm starting to wonder whether or not you're the Maverick." He accused glaring at the reploid in front of him. He really didn't care much for the purple reploid. Just because he was far worse than any of the Hunters that mouthed off. "Maybe you should hit the training room and learn how not to shoot everything that moves." He stated in a tone that he used with the lower class Hunters. Vile definitely wouldn't like that.

X simply sat there and watched the two A-Class Hunters argue. Vile was the only one with a higher mission count than Zero, but from what he remembered from mission reports, more often than not Vile caused a ton of damage and casualties.

Vile's fist was shaking in anger. If there was one thing he hated more than anything, it was being talked to like a lesser hunter. Silently, Vile armed his Golden Right, but a beep caught him off gaurd. Looking at his gauntlet, his energy levels were reaching the lower point, to low to use any of his stronger attacks. "Well, looks like you got lucky this time." Vile said turning to head to his recharge pod. At the doorway, he turned around and pointed Front Runner straight at Zero and X. "If I wasn't low on power, I'd show both of you why Mavericks choose to run from me. And trust me, you'd also see what happens when they can't get away."

Zero grimaced but didn't bother responding. He didn't need Vile coming after him anyway. Besides, he needed to make sure X was okay. Once he was sure Vile had left he turned around to face X and pulled the blue reploid out of the wall. "Are you all right?" He asked noticing the rather large dent in the wall. That definitely had to hurt.

X stumbled forward a bit when Zero pulled him out of the wall. His arm was dented and his head was spinning, but he was otherwise unharmed, save for being shaken up. "I-I'm okay..." he replied, stammering a little.

Vile was likely the only Reploid X was actually afraid of. He wouldn't hesitate to attack X just on a whim.

In his recharge pod, Vile laid back and began to connect to it. But he still couldn't get over it. 'He treated me like a new recruit. Commander Sigma made me an elite, I am superior to both of them.' Zero managed to popped X's armor back into it's normal shape without having to take it off the blue reploid. "Just try to get some rest. I'll archive the paperwork." He said before grabbing the stack of papers and carrying them down to the archive room. He would need to recharge soon, but he might as well finish everything up.

He was rather surprised that Vile hadn't attacked him even though his energy was low. That really hadn't stopped the purple reploid before. Maybe his energy was far too low to do anything. Either way, Zero had been rather lucky. Even though he wasn't exactly scared of Vile, he knew it would be hard to fight against the purple reploid.

Once his systems were recharged, Vile climbed out of his recharge pod. "Alright, now, time to have some real fun, the training room should be empty." Vile said. There was one thing Vile loved early in the morning, the thrill of battle. And since you couldn't count on a Maverick to attack, he would crank the training to max and go nuts. This day however, the training room was occupided but set to a low level. "What the? Who would possibly use this level?" Entering the training room, he saw X trying to fight some drones with Zero laying down the occasional support fire.

X had asked Zero if he could go back to the A-Class training center to brush up his skills so he wouldn't have to worry about being injured on a mission again. They decided to do a similar training regimen as before--start on a low setting and work their way up, but instead of only five enemies per level it was twenty. X had proven that he was strong enough to take on A-Class enemies with minor difficulty, so they had to add another level of challenge. To add a bit more difficulty, the area was set in a flooded base, as if dealing with an aquatic Maverick. Mobility was altered.

When the level was changing and loading new enemies, X took a moment to look over at the door when it opened. He froze upon seeing Vile.

"I should have guessed." Vile said, "You know X, this is the A-Class training center. You are not an A-Class hunter." The level was almost complete. "You really should stick to your own center."

A series of beeps started going indicating the training drill was about to begin. "But if you want to play with the big boys, then you'd better be prepared for things to get rough. Since I want to train anyway, how about I take the role of the Maverick?" The beeps stops and 20 A-Class drones where released.

"Keep training." Zero ordered X before walking halfway between X and Vile. "I'll take that challenge Vile." He stated not caring that it wasn't directed at him. "You're already partially a Maverick anyway, so what difference would it make?" He asked while preparing his buster. Although he didn't have a wide range of attacks he would definitely test his skills against a fellow A-Class.

X nodded and started firing charged shots at the A-Class enemy drones. He was hesitant, however, to let Zero fight Vile alone. It seemed that whenever Vile developed a new attack, he would test it out on X. Most of them left him incapacitated in the infirmary. He hoped that Zero would be okay fighting him.

Vile was both happy and upset with this turn of events. He recently found a way to make a flamethrower work underwater and was hoping X could be the first one to feel it. But with how Zero treated him last night, he would make a good target dummy. "Fine. Let's just hope hanging around that pathetic X hasn't made you soft. Front Runner!" Vile aimed his shoulder cannon at the red hunter and fired the first round.

Although his movements were different underwater, so were the attacks. He managed to jump into the air and out of the way of the shots before shooting a charged shot at Vile. As he fell back down to the ground he fired off rapid shots. He didn't bother checking on X. It sounded like he was doing well enough.

X's movement was greatly altered by being underwater, causing fully charged shots to push him through the water a bit before the weight of his armor caused him to sink like a rock. He managed to make good use of this to dodge the drones' attacks, then destroy them while still in motion to keep his momentum. One fully charged shot and one uncharged shot was all it took to destroy each one.

After all twenty enemies were destroyed, he turned his attention to Zero. He'd set the simulation to stop creating drones after the A-Class enemies were defeated, meaning he could focus on Vile.

Vile had taken a few hits. But Zero was reletivly unscratched. Vile may have had the advantage against Zero in weapon variety, maybe even strength, but Zero was faster, and underwater the difference was a little more pronounced. He needed someway to keep him in one place if he was planning on using Sea Dragon's Rage. But when he noticed X finished off the drones, he had a sudden idea. Vile fired a shot from Front Runner at Zero than fired his Humerus Crush Missile straight at X.

Zero cursed and fired off a charged shot at the missile hoping to get rid of it before it reached X. His diverted attention caused him to get hit by the shots from Vile's Front Runner. He was pushed backwards into the water a little bit but managed to flip back into an upright position. He landed back on the ground a few moments later and looked up at Vile to see what the purple reploid was going to do next.

X managed to fire a charged shot, but instead of aiming for the missile Vile had fired, he aimed at the ground, launching him high enough to dodge it. Before he started to drop, he fired another charged shot at Vile. He doubted it would do anything to the much stronger Reploid, but he could at least hope for the best.

Vile hadn't noticed the charged shot dropping down on him, but even had he, he wouldn't have done anything. X was weaker than him. But surprisingly, the shot struck Vile and slammed him into the ground. 'What the? How did that weakling manage that kind of attack?' He thought, noticing X dropping through the water, 'But that's not important, I got him right where I want him.' While X was still falling, Vile rolled the best he could to put himself closer to X's location. He then pointed his right knee at X and released a stream of fire.

Zero reacted rather quickly when he saw what Vile was doing. He fired a charged shot at Vile's knee hoping to disable that weapon before it even fired. X would be rather damaged if the flamethrower hit him at such a close range. He fired off a cluster of rapid shots as well, hoping to distract the other Hunter enough for X to back away.

X dropped like a stone after he'd lost momentum, putting him right in range of the flamethrower. It managed to burn X's left forearm a bit, and burn open a hole in his armor, causing the "water" to pour in and make his arm even heavier. However, it also put Vile in range for a charged shot right to the face, which X would happily provide. All the while, he kept wondering if Vile was such a renegade that he even broke the laws of physics.

The shot wasn't what Vile was expecting. Sure he was ready for a counter attack, the it was more powerful than he was expecting. At such close ranges, and the altered movement from the water, the shot hurled him into the wall, and severly damaged his systems. And as it was programmed, the training center shut down with a severely hurt hunter in it. Struggling to stand, Vile couldn't believe it, X had hurt him. "How? How did you do that?" Vile asked before collapsing, "But it doesn't matter, I'm not through yet!"

"It's over Vile! Get to the med bay for repairs!" Zero ordered even as the water drained out of the room. He walked over to where X was and looked over at the downed Hunter. It was obvious he was severely damaged as he couldn't even stand. Zero was rather surprised himself at how powerful X's attack had been. "If you can't get there yourself I'll call for the medics to transport you there." He stated while keeping his guard up. There was no telling what the purple reploid would do, and he wouldn't be stupid enough to let his guard down just because Vile couldn't stand.

X had to take a moment to catch his breath. That shot was far stronger than what he would usually use, and it caused his systems to overheat tremendously, both from having to use so much energy and from the water in his body. He forgot that it was difficult to simulate water and they actually had to use real water in the training center when using flooded areas. He glanced over at Vile, rather shocked at how much damage he'd caused to the A-Class Hunter.

Of course, it was because of the pent-up frustration he'd had since he met Vile.

"It's not over until I say it's over!" Vile yelled, "I'm the best hunter there is! I can't lose!" Vile collapsed yet again, this time onto his side. Vile couldn't even stand anymore. The shot had pretty much completely destroyed his systems and drained his energy.

Zero sighed and went over to the downed Vile. "You're down Vile. There's no point in continuing unless you want to die." He knew that none of the medics would dare to get close to him, so he had no choice but to take him to the medical bay himself. There was no guarantees that Vile wouldn't outright attack him, but he wasn't just going to leave him there. Zero managed to pull Vile up enough to where only the purple reploids feet dragged on the ground. He looked over his shoulder at X. "You can go rest now." He said before walking to the med bay.

I'm not arrogant, but I don't make mistakes. I just cut down my enemies.

X watched the scene quietly, covering the hole in his forearm with his hand. He followed Zero to the infirmary; his arm needed to be repaired. He tried to avoid looking at Vile, however. The blue Reploid broke a rule he'd given himself--seriously harming a fellow Hunter. He didn't mean to cause so much damage.

I wish I could avoid violence...but if I did, this world wouldn't be able to live in peace. So I will fight for this world, to protect humans and Reploids alike.

Vile swore again silently, he no had the perfect chance to dispose of X's bodyguard, but he couldn't move any part of him enough to attack. He couldn't stand being so helpless. 'They'll force me offline for a while. So they can repair me. And that whole time X will have thought he beat me.' Vile thought. But, there was nothing he could do, his systems were all but worthless and his energy was approaching dangerously low levels.

Zero placed Vile in a recharge pod and connected everything so that the damaged reploid wouldn't just shut down. "I'll get some medics to look at you." He stated before going off and ordering some of the medic reploids to fix up Vile. They put up a fight, but eventually caved. He went back over to where X was and looked at the hole in X's forearm. "Are there any other cracks or anything?" He asked. Any structural imperfection could cause a lot of trouble later.

X sat on a workbench on the opposite side of the infirmary, as far from Vile as he could, and carefully examined the hole in his arm. Water was still dripping out of it, and every time the blue Reploid moved he could hear the water sloshing around in his body. He didn't even notice that Zero was standing next to him until he'd spoken.

"Uh...n-no, I don't think so," replied X. "Just this hole in my arm."

It was actually rather serious. Instead of a usual tear or puncture wound that could easily be patched up, the armor had actually melted and warped.

I wish I could avoid violence...but if I did, this world wouldn't be able to live in peace. So I will fight for this world, to protect humans and Reploids alike.

Vile stared at the Zero and X examining X's arm. The sight made him sick and happy at the same time. Sure, it sickened him X is being helped at all, he's so weak he should just be scrapped. But the fact that X's armor was so badly damaged made him by a weapon he designed himself reaffirmed that he was Superior than X in each and every way.

"Run a scan on everything to make sure while I take care of your armor." Zero ordered while taking off X's forearm armor. He took a quick look at X's arm underneath the armor to make sure it wasn't damaged as well. It seemed okay enough. Zero went to work fixing up the piece of armor Vile had damaged. He could feel the purple reploids smugness even from across the room. He shook his head and cut out the melted part of the armor. "You should probably drain out the excess water as well."
