Two enemies could be heard approaching X at the same time. While a third could be heard approaching from further away. The remaining two were nowhere to be seen, or heard.

X spun around as fast as the water resistance allowed him and fired off two quick, uncharged shots at the enemies approaching from behind, then jumped back a few feet and fired a half charged shot toward the third.

None of the three enemies went down, however it was obvious they were rather damaged. A fourth enemy came out of the ground below where X was, attempting to catch X off guard.

X planted his foot on the ground and kicked off to the side, barely avoiding serious injury from the ambushing enemy. It left a small scrape across his left leg, though it barely even scratched the paint on his armor. He charged another shot and fired it at the enemy, decapitating it.

The remaining four enemies charged X all at once. One from above and three from in front of him. They seemed rather intent on trying to seriously damage him.

X kept charging his Buster as the enemies approached him. He was testing a new variation of his shot and this was as good a time as any to try it out. When they were right on him, X kicked off from a wall, putting a good amount of distance between him and the enemies, and fired the shot. Instead of being a single giant blast, it fragmented into several smaller, but still powerful blasts.

Zero was rather surprised at X's new attack, but it was definitely effective. It destroyed all the remaining enemies. "Last round." He called from his little perch. He was a little surprised that they hadn't tried attacking him as well.

X looked up at Zero and gave a thumbs up. "Am I doing alright?" he called up, wanting some input on his training. So far the only injury he sustained was a small scrape at A-Class level. S-Class level should be interesting.

"You're keeping pace with how well I know you can do." Zero said kicking one of his feet slightly against the water. He had known from the first time they'd actually trained that X could be an A-Class Hunter. The higher ups didn't like that idea though, so he was only promoted to B-Class. Now was the real challenge however.

X wound up smiling at Zero's words. He was finally able to meet Zero's expectations. Still, it was too early to celebrate; he still had to contend with a powerful S-Class enemy. The original simulation called for five standard S-Class Mechaniloids, followed by one aquatic Maverick-class enemy, an Utuboros.

Zero noticed X smiling and was glad that the blue reploid was happy, but he needed to pay attention. "Focus." He said not wanting X to get caught off guard. He wasn't sure why X had been smiling, maybe it was what he'd said? Either way, the simulation was going to be tough for X. The enemies actually attacked as a group.

Moments later all five S-Class enemies charged at X. All coming from different sides. It was obvious they were very alert and aware of any movements that X would make.

X recognized the five enemies as Gulpfers, Mechaniloids under the order of Launch Octopus. He knew that they could be dangerous at close range as well as a distance, but their attacks were rather pointless unless they were close enough. X fired a few partially charged shots at them in an effort to at least hold them off for a moment.

Zero waited and watched not wanting to jump in when X didn't need him. The attacks slowed some of the enemies, but for the most part they kept approaching X. If he wasn't careful they would manage to get close enough to hurt him.

Once one of the Gulpfers was just within range of attacking, X unleashed another spread shot to take out two of them, then a few rapid fire normal shots to drive the other ones back a bit.

The unfortunate thing about these enemies was that they really couldn't attack unless they were extremely close. So the only thing they could really do is continue to close in on X. At least the final 'boss' would help Zero see how well X was coming along in his training.

X kept firing weak shots at each of the enemies, keeping them at a distance and chipping away at them until they each self-destructed from the damage. His arm was starting to ache a bit from using the spread shot, but he had to be ready for the Utuboros when it came out.

Only a few seconds after the last Gulpfer was destroyed, the room started to shake. The Utuboros came out of the ground and circled around X before diving down at the blue reploid.

X nearly lost his balance when the room began to shake, but quickly recomposed himself when the Utuboros emerged. As it dove down toward him, he started firing off some shots at its head in an attempt to weaken it. Having never fought this enemy before, he didn't know its weak point; it would be trial and error, unless he got stomped before he could finish the job.

The shots seemed to have no effect on the large enemy. It's pace didn't slow and it would be on X soon unless the blue reploid figured out how to weaken it.

Uh-oh! X immediately rolled out of the way of the Utuboros, causing it to plow into and burrow through the floor. His attacks had no effect whatsoever on the beast. He charged a shot and waited patiently for his enemy to reemerge.

The Utuboros broke through the sand just behind X and was headed straight for the ceiling. It was obvious it was going to arch back around and dive down at X once again.

X rolled forward out of the way, kicking up clouds of sand in the process. The blue Reploid examined the Utuboros carefully for any weak spots that he could exploit, and found two potential ones: its mouth, which opened when it was about to strike, and the gem in its forehead. He fired his charged shot at the gem and hoped he was right; if he wasn't it would be disastrous.

The large mechaniloid roared and diverted it's path back towards the ceiling. It swam around there before diving down at X once again. It swam in a slight zig zag pattern, as if to avoid being hit.

X was rather shocked at how the Utuboros reacted to the attack, but he quickly realized why. "That's it!" The blue Reploid charged another shot and managed to strike the Utuboros again in the same spot, but mere seconds later its jaws clamped down on his torso, and the weapon in its mouth began to charge at point-blank range. The angle it held X at made it impossible to hit the crystal a third time.

Zero definitely found it a good time to jump in and jumped down to where the mechaniloid had X pinned and fired off a fully charged shot point blank into the Utuboros' crystal. It immediately collapsed and let go of X before the simulation disappeared. The room drained out moments later.

X collapsed on his hands and knees when the Utuboros dropped him. Immediately his left hand covered the two holes in his abdomen caused by the Utuboros' fangs. They weren't particularly deep, as they didn't go all the way though one side and pierce through the other, but they still hurt. The blue Reploid mentally berated himself for being weak once again.

Zero knelt next to X and looked at him. "Are you alright?" Although it was a somewhat stupid question it was one he couldn't help but ask. He could tell X was in pain, and upset that he wasn't able to fully kill the Utuboros on his own. He'd damaged the mechaniloid halfway, which was an achievement in itself actually.

"I...I'm fine..." X managed to practically croak out. The abrupt attack had caused water to enter his systems again, and the attack apparently damaged his cooling systems. Even for a training simulation it was risky for him to have tried to take on an S-Class enemy. No, not risky--outright foolish.

Zero quickly went to work fixing X up. It took him a rather long time to fix the damage, but he managed to fix it completely. "All done." He said after running a scan on X's systems. Everything checked out. He handed X an E-Tank so that the blue reploid would at least have enough of energy to walk.

It was finally finished. It took a fair amount of effort, but he fully customized a ride armor for himself. He reconfigured its energy signature to match his for maximum synch. He also entered his teleportation frequency into it so he could call it to himself as well as add a high caliber machine gun to the right arm. "This will show them." Vile sneered, "There's no chance of X surviving this this.
